I am thinking about setting up for the Christmas Parade on the central hub where the parade route makes a turn to cross the bridge into Liberty Square. Question is: Do you think this spot will give you a good picture with the castle in the background or is the angle wrong when the floats turn? I set up at the top of the central hub last October, but it seemed to be too close to the castle and the crowds were difficult there even though I got there 45 min early. As the parade time got closer, people seemed to keep squeezing in. I was asked twice by other parents to give up my spot so their kids could sit there. I figure I should get to sit by my kids and wife for the parade, after all we did get there early when everyone else was still enjoying the park. Don't get me wrong I am a southern gentleman who still opens doors for ladies and offers my seat on busses, but I thought this was too much to ask. Did'nt mean to get off on a tangent. What do you guys think the proposed spot will get me?

If I am thinking correctly, I don't think you will be able to get much of the castle in the background because if you snap the picture of the float coming toward you, it would be too far right and if you snap it when it's in front of you, your too close. Does that make sense? As for the other thing, you have to stand your ground. I have no sympathy for people who don't get there in plenty of time to get a spot. Especially when they don't even ask! People can get so rude at parade time.

If you want front row anywhere near the hub or Main Street you'll need to arrive a good 60-90 minutes early especially near the holiday's. If it's right during Christmas week you may be looking at a solid 90-120 minutes for front row.

As for the photo. I've never sat in that spot. I have sat on Main Street and I have some incredible photo's on the floats coming down straight on w/ the castle in the back. We do sit closer to the hub than the shops.

Thanks, I guess I will just have to be rude back this year. I was hoping I would not have to do this the week before Christmas though. If you got pictures of floats straight on with the castle in the background then the parade must have started from the Liberty square side instead of the front of the park. Do they start the Christmas parades from there?
