Anyone have rosacea?

I also have this along with very sensitive/reactive skin.
The only makeup that works for me (as far as foundation) is Estee Lauder Doublewear. I tried BE and it left my face a total mess (which really stunk because I loved the way it looked).
I apply the EL with the MAC 187 brush.
As far as skin care - less is better. None of the Metrogel or creams worked. I now use Noritate and it has done wonders.
At night I wash my face with Mary Kay Timewise 3in1 or Olay Sensitive Skin Foaming Face Wash then I apply Mary Kay Night Solution and Cetaphil cream.
During the day the only face lotion I can use is Clinique Moisture Surge and Neutrogena Healthy skin Anti wrinkle SFP15.
Good luck!

I'm starting to think my issues are allergy related. A couple of times in the last year or so I've been given a predisone type medicine for bad allergy flare ups / sinus infections and everytime my skin cleared up. I just thought maybe it was a coincidence, but I really think this last time it was exactly what cleared up my skin. I did a little research on the exact type of medicine I was give (Medrol or something like that) and there are reports of people having the same kind of issues and this medicine clearing it up. I'm going to talk to my allergy doctor about it and possibly getting a maintenance dose to keep my skin cleared up. I can deal with the redness (and cover it up with my makeup), but the pimples / bumbs drive me crazy!

Ack! Acne meds will be too harsh and make it worse!

I use an organic skin care line from Whole Foods, Terressentials. The less chemicals I put on my face, the better. For a moisturizer at night, I use pure shea butter from Whole Foods.

For foundation, the only one I ever found that covers nice is mail order only. Victoria Jackson Makeup (www.vjmakeup.com). I swear by her stuff and have been a customer for 15 years now.

I also use bare escentuals occasionally and found that to work well. But I like the coverage of the cream foundation from VJ.

I was having really bad rosacea flare ups on my cheeks. Bumps, redness, etc. And I've tried everything - creams, lotions, oils, masks, and nothing seemed to work consistently. I use dermalmd rosacea serum twice a day, once in the morning, under my make-up, and at night. It absorbs into your skin really well, doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy, and doesn't affect my make-up at all. And it has kept my rosacea flare-ups calm for weeks now. And my skin tone looks better overall. Much less red than usual. Would recommend dermalmd rosacea serum wholeheartedly!

I was just diagnosed with Rosacea, in March ... I had to wait 3 months to see the Derm. Doc. But so worth it.... I'm 55 yikes

Here's what I was told, Rosacea is due to the blood vessel not opening and closing properly. The bumps are more like blisters than pimples.

Heat and humidity are one of the main factors in the redness. So I try to go out early am, and get back home before the worst part of the day hits. I keep a cooler with bottles of water so I can keep cool. I even sometimes hold the bottle on my face to cool it down instantly. I even have a couple of those boo boo freezy gel thing in the freezer to apply on my face.

I had to change my bath and face products, Derm Doc's suggestions/ really orders. For my face, Neutrogena Ultra gentle daily cleansers, I prefer the foaming formula. Dove shampoo and conditioners, as well as Dove shower wash. She told me what good is changing your face cream when you just get in the shower and use whatever, it gets on your face during showering, and after when you touch your face.

She said find a make-up that doesn't make your skin dry, and give you moisture through out the time you are wearing it...make sure it has some sunscreen in it, she was like everyone is different, expensive make-up doesn't make it better. Absolutely no face powder which I don't use anyway.

The medication that she prescribed is Soolantra ( ivermectin cream 1%) It is so expensive almost 400.00 for a good size tube, and insurance doesn't pay for it. I got lucky and the pharmacy that we use is a small community one, and I was able to get a coupon for 300.00 off...Thank goodness you only put it on the bumps. I use it at night after I wash my face.

Sunscreen is a must... she gave me several to try, I stick with my Coppertone sports 50. Hat and big sun glasses are a must, I found some cute ones that cover almost all of my cheeks. We have a boat, I have to watch out for windburn.

Stress is another trigger... so staying calm, is hard. But I do try... As women we tend to internalizes things, which is not healthy...

Diet, ask your Derm doc for a list of triggers, tomatoes, anything with a lot of vinegar ... like salad dressing and soy sauce are huge triggers for me... I love all three things, I have found out that if I just have a tiny bit like a slice of tomato with out the seeds, I can get by..

Also she told me wash my sheet, pillows, and comforter in hot water, with a splash of bleach... If possible dry the pillows in direct sun light... Not really sure why she went into some doc speak... I did it and keep doing it...

Its a lot of trail and error...But my face looks so much better and I might only get one bump every now and them....but I am diligent on keeping up with what I need to do.... but talking to the derm doc, it important.. Have your questions ready...
