Anyone have preference between Alamo and Dollar?

We have a reservation for both and Dollar is almost 10 more...is there one that has nicer cars than the other? We have never rented a car before.

Have you checked any other companies that are located at the terminal? A lot of times E-Z, Advantage and L&M are cheaper, but keep in mind that the most important part is that you rent from a company that is located in the terminal and not off site..........jmo

We like Alamo because they let you pick your car from the isle of car class you have reserved. Not sure if Dollar offers that, if they don't I would give the edge to Alamo.

We have used Dollar for the past 6 years and we had no problems. They are in the terminal (no shuttle). i would highly recommend their "preffered customer" card so that you can go to the front of the line. It is free on their web site

Alamo - I never say never, but I pretty much won't rent if it isn't from Alamo or National. I love being able to prepay and skip the counter, or use the kiosk (no lines!) and I really love picking my own car.

hertz & avis have nice cars, just typically priced much higher for my dates. I give the nod to national, their emerald & executive aisle program is great.

I always rent from Alamo or National. I tend to prefer Alamo because usually I get the best rate their but alas no car for August thru ALamo yet. I so hope their price go down

We always use Alamo, but only because they're cheaper.

We actually prefer National ... as Emerald Club members, we like being able to skip the counter or kiosk and head straight to the garage!!

I think the people are generally nicer at Dollar and the cars are cleaner (slightly IMHO) but the kiosk ease eliminates the people factor unless you have a problem with your car (which we have and they were wicked apathetic). The picking your car thing is sort of neat @ Alamo but if you don't like the car you are assigned at Dollar, they will let you switch with only a minor hassle. You do get a variety of cars with Alamo but we get the same thing just about every time anyway so in the end it's all about price to us.

FYI---Dollar is on the first floor and Alamo is on the second so if you have a caravan of luggage, Dollar is a shorter walk but it's minor.

We usually use Alamo. I love being about to choose our own car. If one smells like smoke or is dirty, we just move on. Their prices are almost always cheapest.
The one time we used Dollar in the last 5 yrs, we waited an hour in the line only to be sent out to the garage to get in another line to get keys. We were assigned a smelly old minivan with bleach stains all over the trunk.
Not too awful but reminded me how much I prefer Alamo. That day I would have paid more to have Alamo over Dollar.

No experience with Dollar, but whenever we stayed off site in the past, we rented from Alamo at MCO with no complaints. We're staying on site next month and used a double car class upgrade coupon from the Entertainment book to reserve a rental car at Alamo's Car Care Center location to do some off site jaunts to the Space Center, etc.
