Anyone have pets with fears like t-storms?

Our black lab is terrified of thunder and will seek out me for comfort. I talk calmly to him and try to settle his fears. Poor dog. At night if there is a storm I know he will want to climb in bed with us.

Thanks for all the stories so far. Jessie is nervous about the vaccuum too. I can't figure out why she is so nervous about ceiling fans. She is very stubborn---even for a lab, but she handles fireworks okay if they are way, way down the road. Lately, she runs from the livingroom if UPS drives up---even the mention of UPS .



Her buddy nextdoor tore up half of his doghouse roof. I thought I heard him moan last night after the storm. He is the cutest shepard/chow mix.

My cat, Rascal, is terrified of storms. He comes into my office and hides in the cabinet where the computer tower is.

My other cat, Cutie Pie, seems to be afraid of my toes. He doesn't see them without socks until it gets warm out. LOL and then it takes him a few days to get used to them.

We had a shepherd/collie mix that would pull electric plugs out of the sockets any time it thundered. She stepped on the cords until they came out of the wall. She even moved night stands and tables to get to the cords. We had to get wind-up alarm clocks! After making sure the plugs were pulled, she laid down next to the bed and pulled on the sheets and blankets until they fell on top of her.

Tipper my Scottie is terrified of storms and my neighbor's target shooting. She will shake and tremble. I usually will pick her up and hold her. She "parrots" on my shoulder and tucks her head inside the neck of my shirt.

Mac, my other Scottie, will bark non-stop in a storm--he wants to get it and kill it, but he is not afraid. The only thing that will hush him is a Booda Bone Velvet--the green one.

My dog can't take conflict. If the boys are arguing she gets as close as she can to me - preferably in my lap. If one of the boys is in trouble and I'm mad, she goes and hides under my side of my bed.
