Just wondering if anyone did the "lunch with an astronaut" at Kennedy Space Center recently? Is is worth the money? How was lunch? How was the astronaut?

Not lately but did it a couple of years ago and not sure I'd want to do it any other way. Food was delicious. Way better than I expected. And, it was fun too! Butter in the shape moons and rocket shaped brownies. White linens and floral arrangements. Very nice. Also, gave us front of the line for trams etc. The speaker was fantastic (two time captain) and had handouts for the kids and answered all their questions. We hadn't planned on doing that but at the admissions gate, the lady encouraged us to try it and we were so happy we did. We had intended staying only half a day and then go to Cocoa Beach but we ended up closing the place. Really enjoyed it and ironically, I was kinda dreading it as we aren't space people. Surprise- surprise, it was one of the highlights of our trip. I encourage you to do it. It was great.

May sound like a strange question, but is it a situation where an astronaut speaks to a group of people at your luncheon and while you eat, or does an astronaut actually sit at your table and eat? TIA.

When we went to the gate, there were several admissions. Different types, with different tours. There are people to help you figure it all out. We had arrived hungry and were planning to eat as soon as we got in, so we figured we would just do the lunch. It was more $$ but not too much more, I don't think. There are several tables all around and the "astronaut" stands in the front. He runs through his experiences and then the kids can ask questions. Someone comes around with a mic and hands it to the kids. Then there is time for a photo shoot. The day we were there, our guy was snowed in- in Boston so we had a stand-in. Turns out he had captained 2 shuttles and had spent time at the space station. When we went to the IMAX film later that day, he was the guy in the film, captain of the ship in space. It was cool. A fun day.
