Anyone have loud velcro?

I have very loud velcro closures on my Domke F-5XB bag. Today I almost removed them but hestitated for fear of ruining the bag. It does have a zipper under the flap. Wondering if anyone here has experienced loud rip velcro.

I don't want to take it to WDW and then be afraid to open it. I'd scare the animals in AK when it rips.

You're cracking me up!! I have this mentally imagine of you trying in vain to control the LOUD ripping sound........ no more stealth shooting for you.

In theory, striclty from the standpoint from someone who sews... you should be able to remove it if it is sewn in place using a seam ripper. That is if it is not sewn into any seams. If it is in a seam it is a nightmare.

If you don't want to remove it just go buy a length of velcro at the store and stick the fuzzy side of the new strip to the hook side on the bag. Bingo, no more velcro. You could do this only for when you are in places that you need a stealth bag or all the time.

If you decide to go ahead and carefully rip it off, you could replace the lengths of velcro with stick-on 'button' size pieces or other shapes of velcro. Sewing / Craft stores such as Jo Ann Fabrics or even Michaels Craft or hobby places have these in a wide variety of sizes and shapes.

Thanks everyone. Planning a trip to Michaels tomorrow for velcro patches. I almost used my seam ripper on it but then I'd have no velcro at all to hold the flap closed. I tried putting narrow velcro strips on the rip side (not the soft side) and it was still really loud.
This is not a stealth bag. Duh, what was Domke thinking?
If all else fails I'll just let it rip

Well if you go ahead and rip it off, then you could use a hook and eye closure, or a snap. MIght take more time to open and close but it would be quieter.

DH suggested using dryer lint and patting the hook side to fill it with gunk and then it should not hook as well and not be so loud (I think he picked that up rom McGuyver) However I pointed out the possibility of that lint finding it's way into the camera. So while a good idea in theory, not one I think I would use!

A hook and eye would definately work.The velcro dots are a possibilty but the ones I have are sticky on the back. I'd have to find non sticky. Filling it up with gunk, hmmm very McGuyver! I like that. Something to gunk it up but doesn't get into the camera and is hard after it dries even in the FL sun. Maybe paint or glue?
It's always something with camera bags and me. I got a great one from LLBean back in the 80's. Just the right size, didn't look like a camera bag. Everything about it was perfect except the material was a tough water repellant rip stop nylon that felt like shark skin. When it rubbed against my clothing it pilled. I was doing celeb pics @ clubs and parties in the Hamptons. I'd come home with pills from my party clothes in the bag and camera.
