My youngest DD (9) wants this for Christmas. Does anyone out there have it and can tell me whether or not it's worth it? I swear Christmas is getting harder every year!! :earseek: With them being 13, 12 and 9, "Santa" needs a bigger and bigger wallet!!!! ::yes::

My daughter (9) got if for Christmas last year. It has really hepled her with math and reading. I agree I have a 12,10,9,8 two boys then 2 girls and Christmas and Birthdays are getting so difficult!

My DD (9) got one for xmas last year too! She likes it and still uses it. In fact, she just picked out 2 more cartridges for her birthday last week!

:D

We have one. DS loves it but Leap doesn't support it with the
variety of prograns they have for Leap Pad. I can only find one
new one this year. We're taking ours on our drive to WDW the
day after Christmas!

We have one and it's really cool to play with, but my DS (9) does not use it as much as I had hoped. If I sit down with him, he'll use it but not usually on his own. I think it's VERY educational & fun but my DS does not have the same enthusiam for it. If your DD is asking for one, she would probably be more inclined to use it.

Maybe you could find one on eBay that would be cheaper.

We have it.. my son likes it. We bought it for him on sale fro about $40 at Kmart last year.

He likes the sample book more than the other books but he playes with it. He likes the mad libs page!

He does play with it, again when prompted. That is suprising that Leap doesn't support it. My daughter has a Leap Pad, and it all works fine with our things.

By "support it", I meant they don't make many new programs
for it. The same old movies one with Harry Potter on it and
Geography, the Human Body..... I bought 3rd Grade History
yesterday. It's the only new one I've seen in a year.

My son has it and like the others he only "plays" when told to do so.

OTOH, it has been irreplacable for helping him to memorize his Math Facts. Also, this year he has to memorize the 50 States and their Capitals and again it has been so helpful. With 3 kids, it is really hard for me to find time to quiz him -- having this tool has been wonderful.

But as a toy or a fun present, I think she'll be a little disappointed. Most of the books and reading materials seem to be geared more to the 7 and under crowd to me.

You can use the any of the regular Leap products with the Quantum system. Ill ask my Leap representive about any new things for Quantum.

I think its a kewl system and MUCH better than PowerTouch

I looked on ebay and the prices, once you include shipping, is the same as the stores (I KNOW shipping isn't that high!! ) I saw it today at Sam's Club. It included 3 games and was $47.99!! The cheapest I had seen on line was walmart.com for $39.99 with .97 shipping (yes I typed that correctly!!). I think I'm heading there this week and getting it!! :bounce:

My son has the Dinosaur Quantum Book as well as Smart Guide to 5th Grade., plus the sample book.

The Quantum has the countries of Europe, nto the US.. at least ours is like that. (I didn't even know where Lituania was!)

I think it's the Smart Guide to 4th Grade that has the US Map.

The US Map is also on the Sample book for the Leap Pad. We interchange the books a lot between the two.. (QL and LP). I thought the Europe one was on the sample book as well for the QL but it may be smart guide to 5th grade.
