Anyone have earthlink?

We recently got a new computer and it came with 6 months free earthlink. We were planning on changing providers (currently have erols/starpower) because we've been having problems with spam, and erols basically said too bad, can't do anything.

Earthlink's spam blocker and popup blocker sounded good, so I was pretty well set to switch over after the trial period.

BUT, at least 85% of the time when I've dialed in, my connection is lower than 30k! It can't seem to find any normal sites at those low speeds (even google!) I'm trying to figure out if the problem is with our new computer (still confused over multiple logins under windows xp), our local dial up, some setting problem I have or if it's just earthlink!

I can get a connection at 51k, it's just happened about once every 15 or 20 times.

I used to have earthlink. I hated it. It did have a slower dialup speed and I had a problem with it re-sending emails from 6-9 months old that I hadn't even saved (including homework and stuff from my online class, 6 months after I took the class ).

My son had this service and was not all that pleased with it.

I loved Earthlink when we had it. It probably really depends on the area though.

We have Earthlink and love it. Ok, if you have more than one local number available, try another number. For us a dial-up slightly further away gets a better connection. I know oposite of what is suppose to happen.

We just DUMPED Earthclink about two weeks ago.

We're getting better service and we'll be saving over $200 in the next 14 months!
