My DS will be turning 11 when we are at WDW in December. I would like people to share their b-day experiences at WDW and maybe give tips on how to make sure it is special (if not a little humiliating ... which will be fun for us) for my little guy. I know I have to get a pin at Guest Services, but any other tips to prompt CM's would be great. Thanks for sharing!

Make sure you tell your hotel that it is your son's birthday. We did this for my daughter and she recieved a telephone call from Goofy and a balloons and an autograph card signed by Mickey Mouse! :goofy: :mickeyjum It was very special for her. Also we told the restaurants we ate at that it was her birthday. At Cape May she got a giant cupcake and balloon and at Crystal Palace she got a card signed by all the characters and a cupcake....such wonderful memories. Disney really does a good job at making birthdays special. THe CM's are great with wishing you a "Happy Birthday" and characters in the parade might even notice. My DD had a pirate from Peter Pan wish her a happy birthday :thumbsup2

OOOOH! Telling the hotel is a good idea ... I'll bet your daughter was thrilled!

You can obtain a Bday button at City Hall in MK....EVERYONE will say HBD all day!

I had some friends just get back....they told the resort when they made ressies about the bday, the CM at the front desk nonchalantly asked the child about his favorite Disney character and he got the balloon/pic treatment on the morning of his bday!

They spotlight bdays during the Hoop Dee Doo Review dinner show.

When I turned 40 there, Whispering Canyon in WL made me stand on the chair with straws in my hair, a ketchup bottle and menu in my hands and be the Statue of Liberty....that was FUN!

Same day...my friend "volunteered" me for the Indiana Jones show, the Backlot Tour and he got on the Millionaire show where I screamed at the top of my lungs for him, spending a lot of time "on camera".

Have fun and HAPPY BDAY!!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Please don't be so focused by all the fun stuff that happens to others that you don't let your DS just enjoy the day. The coolest stuff was the stuff that just happened, no planning or begging for freebies. Both of my kids have had very magical b-days at WDW, but I didn't do anything but get the buttons at Guest Services.

mmeb144 ... That's probably the best advice I've gotten thus far! Having never been to WDW for a B-day before, I just wanted to have as much info as possible to make it special for DS. Letting the unexpected happen ... kind of knowing that it will now that I've heard a couple of stories ... will make it more special than ever. But don't we all do a bit of overplanning and thinking every now and then, concerning WDW. I mean, it's such a special trip even if you do it often. But then again, in another post, I did mention that I do tend to be an anal planner ~ thanks for the reality check!

My DD celebrated her 12th bd in WDW. I ordered her a shirt from Disney store, the kind you can design yourself. It said something like "Today is my birthday and I'm celebrating at DW" or something similar I can't remember exactly. We did Chef Mickeys and they celebrate birthdays by having kids march around the room, it was really fun. I also ordered a cake from Chef Mickeys to have delivered while we were eating. We also got the pins from every park.

It truly was a magical birthday. I know she'll treasure the memories forever.
