My Mom just purchased my boys 2 of the new soft fleece type Snuggies - they sell them at Target now. They feel really soft, only they leave a trail of navy blue fleece balls behind them. I have already washed and dried them 5 times, and they are still shedding. Anyone have any ideas how to stop the shedding? Oh, and my washer is full of blue fleece balls from washing the Snuggies so much that my other clothes are now covered in blue fleece!!

Good to know this- my funny son asked for a snuggie for Christmas and now that I have one hidden in the closet I'm not excited to learn it sheds. We've returned fleece blankets before for this problem... not worth hassling with. I may just return it.

My DD wants one of these for Christmas, too. I saw them at Target recently, so I planned on getting it there, but after reading this...maybe no Snuggie!

I made my dad a snuggee using MUCH better quality fleece from the craft store. I had heard the snuggee's weren't the best quality. It was easy to do, cheaper (with a coupon), and only took a couple of hours! Plus I got to use different colors/patterns if I wanted. I'd suggest this for anyone with sewing abilities :)

I actually returned my Snuggie for this very reason. I got one right after Christmas at Walgreens and I knew after the first washing that it was going to be a shedder so I just packed it back up and returned it.

just back from Target where I ALMOST bought a snuggie to put away for DD for Christmas. Glad I did not buy it.

My DS wanted one too, I am so glad I didn't buy it yet!

I know you said that it has been washed and dried 5 times already but, have you tried using the washer ball yet. the balls are sold in bed bath and beyond, plus a bunch of other stores. Anyway, I have heard the balls may help with shedding. The balls are a rubber material with little soft"spikes" on them. You put them in the washing machine with the clothes and then toss everything (including the balls) into the dryer without using fabric softner (no liquid or sheets). The balls are supposed to clean your clothes better and eliminate the need for fabric softner. It may be worth a try:)
