Anyone have any luck getting Sci Fi reservations?

I did for August but it was the hardest of all the reservations. Very few times. I picked 12:30 for example for 4 and saw a 11:45 and a 2pm. Tried a different day, nothing so went back and it was then only the 2pm. Perhaps they have it set with very low capacity or perhaps every car can’t be filled and maintain social distancing

I got 3:15...so ..weird time, but it'll do....early Aug 5 ppl.

No problem for us - 11:35a, 8/4. There were other times available too. Party of 5.
I found availability everywhere, all parks, all days. The more I looked at it though, the less I wanted to actually make the reservations. AK and MK close SOO early it doesn't seem worth it for dinner. I thought about Yak and Yeti @ AK for lunch but it didn't seem all that much better than the quick service places. We were scheduled to do CRT at MK but that is closed. It is seeming pretty likely we'll just order big from Garden Grocer and plan to eat back at the DVC quite a bit - SOO glad we have a 1BR this time!

I did mostly lunches ...and mainly so I can sit in AC and take my mask off..lol

I had no luck getting anything for 2 or 3 people, but when I increased my party size to 4, several times popped up. Going second week of August.

THANK YOU!!!! This advice let me snag a 4 person reservation at Oga's. I was searching with 3 people. I had no clue they were hiding the available capacity. That sure is greedy of them.

I had to book for 4 people on Sept 8 even though we will only be 2 people. That is so annoying. I tried to modify it down to 2 people but it wouldn’t as I guessed. I will just keep trying and if I can’t find a 2 person reservation we will show up short 2 people

I just dropped one at 7:40 on Aug 8 if anyone wants it. DH watched the videos and realized that some of the creepier images would probably upset my four year old (he's pretty sensitive--even the Ursula scenes in Little Mermaid were too much for him). Anyway, happened to notice there were some other times available that week for Sci Fi when I was looking for a replacement, so wonder if maybe they dropped some additional time slots? Also possible that people were dropping reservations today based on park pass reservations.

I think you made the right choice. DD20 finally agreed to go back again. She last went when she was 9, and the movie clips scared her so much she refused to go back until now. (DH, DD16, and I went back in 2/19 while DD20 was off at college, so we were able to convince her none of the movie clips would scare her now.)

Lol, yep! I'm sensing teens/young adults are the perfect time to go. We'll have plenty of time to go later when the kids are older. Thanks for the story--definitely helps me feel we made the right call. Hollywood and Vine was also our go to in HS for table service so we're struggling with two HS days this trip. We're trying 50's prime time one day and Mama Melrose the other for the first time instead. Mama Melrose doesn't get the best reviews, but we like Tony's and that get's panned too--we don't mind "not fancy" italian like Olive Garden back home.

Would definitely recommend a touring plans reservation finder. I mentioned I saw a lot of increased availability at sci fi for my august dates yesterday--I expect people are changing up plans and may continue to do so over the weekend after getting tickets and park passes lined up.

totally random but if you are a party of 2 we have a party of 2 but had to reserve for 4 people and have a 12:50 on sept 8. You could sit at the table right behind us. We could pretend to be together but split checks. also if you are a smaller group try searching for 4 people. You can also try using the touring plans reservation finder. We have it searching for a party of 2 time that day. (We aren’t weirdos and are clean lol - I’m a nurse)

Couldn't get it for opening day. That's okay as we've been there repeatedly, and I instead booked 50's, which we're looking forward to trying for the first time.
