Anyone have any experience with silk/fabric posters? Is this the latest thing?

Did not receive any responses on the CB, so hoping for some luck here, please!

My DS16 picked out some posters that he wants for his birthday and added them to my ebay cart. I was taking a look and I noticed that 4 of the 5 are silk/fabric posters. I tried searching on ebay and online in general and I could not find 3 of them on paper stock, only fabric.

Is this the new thing? Anyone have any experience or input on fabric posters? They are more expensive (by a little bit), and it seems like they would be difficult to hang and need to be framed.

Thanks for your input!!

My kids have silk "wall scrolls" and all of them are for various animes. They have plastic at the top and bottom, hence them being scrolls. Not sure if that is what you are referring to. I've also seen flags but not just plain silk posters.

DS had a silky fabric poster several years ago. It arrived folded (!) and extremely wrinkled. When he tried to iron it, the iron was a little too hot. Although his hot iron damaged the fabric, I think the manufacturer sent him a replacement free after he wrote to them about how folded and wrinkled the thing was. IIRC, the replacement was just as bad, but we managed to iron out the wrinkles from that one.

we have several of the anime scroll types as mentioned above-never received one folded though, always on the scroll and rolled up. I like them b/c they only require one tack to hang vs/ 4 tack holes in the wall w/a paper poster. I've also hung them suspended from a small hook from the ceiling. no problems w/them and they seem to last forever (we have one hanging in our garage that dh bought over 10 years ago-it's still as good as new).

if it's anime characters give amazon a try-they have been the best/least expensive resource I've found (or if you have any local comic book or used video game stores they seem to carry a wealth as well)

Thank you for your replies!

I checked the posters in the ebay cart again. They are not wall scrolls - no plastic at the top and bottom. Just fabric/silk posters. They do arrive rolled and not folded. It seems like the wall scrolls would at least have been easy to hang. I looked on amazon and could not find the ones he chose on ebay...of course.

let me guess-your ds is like mine (and my dd) who both end up getting hooked on stuff that is either (1) older or (2) fairly obscure, and in both cases there are limited if any items available. for future reference (and with Christmas approaching)-connect w/ someone at a comic book store local to you and ask if any of the characters/themes your ds is interested in is easy or hard to come by in the way of posters, t shirts.....they are pretty knowledgeable on this stuff and save you hours of fruitless searching on the internet (and sometimes they have resource to get the stuff).

Thanks for the suggestions! The posters my DS16 chose are rap/hip hop artists, not anime or comic books. Although he does enjoy some pokemon, star wars, and south park collectables :)
