Anyone have any experience with IBS?

My DH has IBS. He works a 12 hour swing shift and it is very often triggered when he swings from days to nights & nights to days.

Not only is it very irritating to him but it is very disruptive to our family schedule - when he's having a flare up we've left for engagements without him so he could be home or have his own vehicle in case he needed to leave. He's missed classes, appointments, etc. It's not fun.

Are they sure it isn't your gallbladder? That kind of pain is what I experienced when I had gallstones. Also, after I had my gallbladder out, I had a functional disorder of the sphincter of Odi (sp?). It's a mouthful, but it was quite painful and had similar symptoms.

What did you do about this (SOD)? My co-worker's wife has just been diagnosed with this. She had her gallbladder out about 2 years ago and has had this flare up. I was thinking about Tiggeroo when my co-worker told me the symptoms.

I still think they missed something in the ct scan. I get a very tight feeling on my upper right abdomen and alot of pain on my right mid-flank wrapping around into the back. But I also have pain in alot of the points considered for fibromyalgia.
