Anyone have advise on Shelburne Murray Hill in NYC?

We are thinking of using points for a May stay. Anyone have firsthand experience with this trade? We usually stay in the Times Square area, but I'm certainly willing to try something new if the accommodations are worth the points.

We did this trade back in 2001. At that time the only NYC options were The Plaza and this. Shelburne Murray Hill used fewer points so we went with it. We were happy with the location and the accommodations. We were there over St. Patrick's Day weekend. We were near Macy's and a short walk to Fifth Ave for the parade. Our room had a kitchen area, living room with a pull out couch and separate sleeping quarters. This was great to use as a meeting place for other family who came in for the parade. My BIL ending up sleeping on the couch and we still had privacy in the bedroom. I think the point structure has changed since then, but we found it a good value.

Have stayed at the Shelburne and The Plaza in nyc I enjoyed the Shelburne much better then The Plaza. It is also close to Grand Central Station So you can get the subway and go anywhere in the city. Do not forget Disney on Fifth Ave. May is a great time to visit the city. If you have any questions? I will be happy to help you. I generally go to the city twice a month just to walk around and explore

Thanks for the feedback, guys! We went ahead and booked the Shelburne Murray Hill as opposed to the Michelangelo (LUV Michelangelo, but also LUV the $2000 that we are saving!). I just love my DVC. We are also using points for the Grand Californian in April. This is the first time we've used points outside of DVC, but it's working out pretty well!

Wow, thanks NYMets, I completely forgot about the Disney store! Perfect! We are also thinking of a visit to Ellis Island (dad's never done it) combined with a Lower East Side Tenements Museum--seemed to be a nice combination for a morning/afternoon!

Any advise for Brooklyn besided Grimaldi's, Jacques Torres, and the Brooklyn Ice Cream place. We always go to eat, but we never have strolled Brooklyn at all.

Don't know nothing about Brooklyn resturants. Hubby gets lost everytime he drives in Brooklyn. If you need resturants in Little Italy, Chinatown even Midtown I know a few good places Not expensive for the city.We also have some pretty good BBQ places
