Anyone have a spouse who's definitely NOT a fan of Disney?

I do but he happily goes to WDW with me. Likes the resorts and the restaurants might play golf. As long as we do some other stuff he is happy

The first D stands for Dear, in my brain. DH is Dear Husband, DD is Dear Daughter, DGD is Dear Granddaughter, etc. (To some, the D stands for Disney, but it’s used all over social media, not just on Disney forums, so I think of it as Dear.)

I’m not sure about the DHIIR - DVC does have a DHHIR, Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort.

On this forum, for many people, it does. But it appears on social media generally, not just on Disney sites, so for me it means Dear - when it appears before a person's relationship, as in DH for Dear Husband or DD for Dear Daughter. For acronyms like DHHIR, DVC, etc., it does stand for Disney, of course.

My DH went many times to WDW and DL when our son was young. He says he's "done his time at Disney", although we did take a WDW trip last year (first time in over 10 years). HE ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT STEP FOOT IN DL! Hates it.
However, thats my happy place and I go 3-4 times a year as I have a MK.
I just tell him that the Avengers have called me to help on a mission

He is retiring in a couple of weeks and is already planning trips to go see rockets being launched...as he just bought a new Mustang Mach-E and cant wait to drive all around the country. I cant travel by car so I may fly to meet him somewhere, if it is a place I want to go. When you have been married 38 years, you dont mind time apart

I do most of my DL trips solo...eat when I want, rest when I want, you get the idea.
I thought initially that I wouldnt renew my key this year but now that PTN is coming back, I'm in!

I want to do the DCL transatlantic cruise soooo bad and the wife is not interested one bit.
Good value, and we don't see that much with Disney.
Thinking maybe hook up on a Facebook with fans in a similar situation.

MDA... My Disney Addiction... I have been on 35+ trips (guessing but close) and DH has NOT. He finds it repetitive; he clearly doesn't feel the magic. DD31 and I try to go together once a year, and I do a solo in November (this year will be #4). I find 3-4 days is good for me, solo, so I fly in on Day 1 and home on Day 5 or 6. I have been to Disney frequently enough that three days there, with a 2 or 3 day park hopper, is enough, and helps keep the budget trimmed (along with staying at Value resorts, juggling credit cards for air miles and Disney points, buying discounted Disney gift cards, etc). DH had a friend in Cocoa who eventually ended up with COPD so before he died, we went down annually to visit him. This has morphed into a January vacation where we spend several nights in NOLA visiting with my sister/BIL and then over to Disney where we spend our money on deluxe hotels, justified by no park tickets, just a relaxing vacation in the area. We do Disney restaurants, Disney lounges/bars, visit the area and friends, but no theme parks. I am interested in seeing how our May trip goes. We are taking DD/SIL and the 7yo step-grandson. I am hoping DH recaptures some of the magic, traveling with a little kid again.

We first took little kiddos to WDW in 2003 (stayed off site and did it the cheaper route, eating off site too). I didn't want to go. I had only been once prior, when I was 7. I didn't remember much about it and just thought it was a kiddie place. DH planned that 1st trip and we thought it was a one and done and I dreaded going. But it was magical. We went back in 2005 but stayed on site and got the DDP...it was even more magical. We were both hooked and bought DVC in 2006.

We have done many trips over the years...with us 5, with extended family, without kids, with teens, with 20somethings, with friends. It has evolved over the years. But while kids were young, living at home, the DH wasn't as into it as I was. We also did cruises and he also was not so into those as I was. I would have been doing 2 cruises and a Disney trip plus a DVC at Hilton head trip every year. I tried and sometimes we did but it was always like pulling teeth to get him to do any of them. He claimed he wanted to try new things and was bummed we weren't. Maybe he also wasn't into paying for 5 for so many trips. It added up.

Then, the kids grow up and finish college and are off adulting and DH decides we need to move to FL, near WDW. So we began that process 3.5ish years ago, amidst covid. We started with a vacay condo that we'd just use a lot and rent out when not using. Then sold that and fully moved to a permanent home thete. He just couldn't get enough of WDW (and also cruising too).

But I am now disenchanted. All the crazy costs and what the mouse is doing. Plus I knew living nearby and going all the time would kill the magic for me. And it did. I wanted us to get a vacay condo in Hilton Head and keep the house up north. We also had a ton of DVC points and could get to WDW enough for the DH. But he won out and we ended up in FL (admittedly, I was on board too because we could buy way way more for our money in Kissimmee than in Hilton Head).

So we have kinda flopped back and forth and never really been in sync. But I don't dislike WDW. I just have to find new things to do here and there. And sometimes we plan to go to a park for the day and I just say nah and skip it. We have good friends who also have a place and we meet up a lot in and about WDW (that husband is a non Disney fan and won't go unless we are meeting up, his wife and girls do mostly without him). We have several couples, actually, that bought in FL recently like us that we like to hang with and sometimes it's tied to WDW. So that makes it nice.

I had the exact same experience this year . Felt obligated to bring my daughter . Booked a 3 day offsite just to get it over with . Went there and we were walking in Epcot and she turned to me and said “daddy daddy there’s Donald Duck “. Up until that point I actively disliked Disney and thought of it as a rip off but that was only two months ago and have already bought two resale contracts and have a 6 day trip planned for november.

Back 10 years ago (my god, it doesn't seem like much more that half that) I was on a 14 day, repositioning cruise from Rome to Fort Lauderdale. It was one of the best experiences of my life. First we cruised areas of the Mediterranean to four different locations in Spain, France and Italy then a quick stop in the Canary Islands and across the vast expanse of the Atlantic Ocean. It was very inexpensive because it was only one way. The last part after the start up five ports of call, was relaxing and, because we got lucky and had beautiful weather everyday, a fun and stress free ride on a Celebrity Cruise Line ship, the Silhouette.

I am not sure how we managed to line that up. We spent the first two weeks independently touring places like Paris, Venice, Pompeii and Rome and managed to time it all to take that cruise that added locations like Pisa, Florence, Toulan, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife. As far as importance to my memories is concerned it is tied with my first trip to WDW with my family and the whole month long event culminating with the cruise. I wouldn't trade either of those memories for anything.
