Hi all,
I'm excited to find this camping community board....never noticed it before.
My husband and I just purchased a park model on a seasonal campsiteat the end of last season.
Just wondering who else has one too.

We have been seasonal in two different camping resorts. One for three years, another for four. Right now..we have our tt back home. Have been giving some serious thought to a seasonal site again. We did get much more use out of our trailer when it was on site. We were able to use it weekends. Heading out after work and not having to worry about setting up when we got there was nice.

We had a trailer on 2 different seasonal sites for many, many years. We had a fifth wheel, then upgraded to a park model on the Potomac River, north of Washington, DC, for 5 years. Decided to move south alittle bit and hauled the park model to a lake. We did seasonal camping there for 12 years. Finally sold it and purchased a motorhome when we retired so we could travel more. I thoroughly enjoyed having a seasonal site and highly recommend it to anyone who can afford it.

My cousin, her husband & I share two lots with park models on the New River in Virginia. We began looking several years ago as our extended family had a mini-reunion/canoe/camping trip annually over July 4th. The campground options are limited in the area and we also hate to expose others to our family's little "quirks." For instance, we want to rig a sound system to play "Dueling Banjos" as canoes float past.:goodvibes

We were fortunate enough to purchase them before prices skyrocketed. It is so peaceful and beautiful there that every time we consider selling, it only takes a visit to change our minds.

"Dueling Banjos" :lmao::lmao::lmao:

YES ! YES !! Do it ! Do it !!
That is soo funny,,I can just picture that in my mind.

I also have a seasonal however i have a 5th wheel so i can haul down to the fort if i need to :goodvibes I do get much more use out of it just being able to head down. My DH travels alot althought i have no problem with driving the rig and going camping by myself , its the packing of the 3 kids and the dog that more trouble than its worth :rotfl:. So for us the seasonal is a wonderful easy solution

With the cost of gas going through the roof im thinking of parking my trailer on a spot. Have been thinking of it for a couple of years now.

A seasonal can be a pro & con thing,I was a saeaonal for years in South Jersey and even met my wife there the only bad thing was with a park model you were locked in and had to live with any price increase and new rules that always favored the campground. We now have a 5th wheel and did think about getting another seasonal site but only one that we could get in & out of easy incase we wanted to travel or want to get out if we did not like it.
I do think with fuel cost getting so high that it is a good idea to get more use out of your rv. Plus not setting up & tearing down all the time is another plus.

Some camgrounds/camping resorts offer spring or fall on sites specials. Meaning that you can leave your RV on site and use it for weekends. (or a particular amount of nights per week). You may want to look into this. We have done this before ultimately finding that we wanted to become "seasonal" for the entire camping season.
We were seasonal in two parks before bringing our tt home.(couldn't justify the cost as we've been traveling (flying) elsewhere). I do like the option of having a towable vehicle as opposed to a park model. Once you make that purchase your options are more limited.
That being said, we are contemplating do a fall season this year in one of the camping resort we were once seasonal in. Kind of got the bug to go back, but don't want the entire season as we have some other vacation plans in the works.

. . . . .

Yes, the con on the seasonal site can be a biggie. We were at one for 11 years and the management was great. All of a sudden they got in a youngish couple to run the place that had no knowledge of managing a campground. They had camped there the previous year however their tow vehicle died and they had no money to get another one so they were stuck there. So the owner hired them - makes sense to me. They put so many stupid rules in place just because they had the power to do it. They also talked the owner into making alot of ridiculous improvements to the campground and guess who had to pay for all of that, the seasonal sites did. The rates got crazy high but luckily we were able to sell everything on our site in one transaction. We had alot of money invested in that place after 10 years. After 2 years of putting up with that, alot of people left and moved to another seasonal campground. But afew people were stuck because they couldn't sell their place. Just be very careful when you get a seasonal site and don't over-improve it.

That's true, it's very easy to become entrenched in a seasonal site. Especially if you've been there for a number of years. Unless it's a co-op type of situation you need to remember it's not your property and not to get to invested in it. Financially or emotionally. Just have fun and enjoy your time away from home. The major benefit for us was being able to head up to our campsite after work. Even if we got in at 11 pm on a Fri. evening, we didn't have to set up camp. Easy as turning turning on the water and putting a key in the door. Certainly
something to say for the convenience. Also we didn't have to rush out on a Sunday morning and head home. There was no breaking camp. Shut the door, secure the awning and leave.
