Anyone have a Roomba?

I have the Roomba Discovery. It comes with 2 virtual walls, a charging base (Roomba returns to it to charge on its own), cleaning tool, a thing to hang it on the wall, and a remote. I got mine from Bed Bath & Beyond with a 10% off coupon.

I think I just got a 20% coupon in the mail the other day.

We haven't used it yet - we are waiting for new flooring...

You just gave me an idea, based on your other thread! I never named my Roomba, even though my DH always told me that I should. I could just never come up with the perfect name (you know where this is going, don't you? ). I'm going to name my Roomba snarky. My family does NOT know about the whole snarky thing on the DIS, I don't even know if they know what it means. I'll tell them that it means moody and witchy, as the Roomba can be, but in a fun way. And we all know that it sucks anything up that's in it's way! Thanks for the inspiration!

I just hope it doesn't start spewing things out.

One thing I also wanted to mention about the company is that they have the best customer service of any company that I have EVER dealt with. We've never had to buy a new Roomba. They just keep fixing the one we have and once they replaced it. I know the next time they are going to tell us to buy another one, and we will, but so far they just send us the parts, the diagnostic kit, or whatever it takes. We have been very impressed and several people have bought it because of the experience we have had. Most companies are not this way and they really have it figured out.

LOL I have neglected to get the tray thing in there all the way and it's fallen off and then I've walked in to a trail of stuff, but now I'm going to have a mental image of something else.! Good comeback (pun not intended).

I don't have a roomba, but I really, REALLY want one. I have dust allergies and every time I vacuum I end up having to use an inhaler and I am stuffed up for the rest of the day. I figure with the roomba I could just set it to go when I leave for work and by the time I get home the dust will have settled.

DH is looking into ripping out the carpet for hardwood as an alternative, but I want the roomba NOW!

I VERY much wanted to Scooba and we got the early e-mails from iRobot when they were first designing it, but we put down tile laminate floor in our kitchen, and it can't be used on laminate. The good news is that my new kitchen is very easy to clean, unlike my old sheet vinyl.

I do know the newer versions (Discovery, Scheduler, etc...) have improvements over the original. The new ones have a sensor so it won't run off of the stairs, it has quicker charging times, etc.

Did you put the hamster back in the cage first? I have a mental image of the Roomba in a dual with a hamster. Not sure who would win!

Believe me - I have had the idea of the hamster and the Roomba fighting to the finish -- but that thing is one tough little Cookie (Cookie is the things name)

Okay - now before anyone gets upset - I would never really harm the hamster - it is just that it was thrust upon me and I am not that fond of the critter.

Does it pick up bunny poo and hay? I have been wanting one for years - anything to quicken the clean up after the fur kids! Not the poo so much as the hay - I find hay everywhere!! It would be great to set this little guy down and have him do the work for me.

A bonus would be seeing how Trouble the cat reacts too

I am considering getting a Roomba, but I was hoping to get some reviews. Plus I have a couple of questions:
1) Will the Roomba move from hardwood to an area rug & then back to hardwood w/ ease?
2) What about fringes on area rugs? Will the Roomba suck those up & get stuck?
3) Will the Roomba move into the next room if I want it to? Over a small threshhold?

My rooma moves from the hardwood to area rug and back with very little trouble if any...
doesn't suck up my blankets when they hang on the floor in the path.
yes it will go room to room unless you have the invisible beam (wall)up for it to be stopped...
I love mine --it is great with the Parrot mess we have - It won't go over steps either which is nice when I stick it up stairs...I am now considering the Scuba for my floors......$399 is a little high though right now...

Sorry no buns - but I am sure it would work on the hay and poo with no problem - really -- bunny poo isn't so big so it might just suuuucckkk it right up - unless it just pushed it around like it does Kix sometimes

We've had our Roomba for a couple of months now. I don't know how we lived before it. We love it! Goes from hard floors to carpet just fine, threshholds aren't and issue, it cleans really well, and is about as loud as a regular vacuum. I'd like to get the Scooba (??) next. It's the one that wet cleans tile floors.
