Anyone have a problem with this?

I just got my 'valid' stickers. My card does not have an expiration date. According to the notice, in order to call member services, your card must be current......well, I am going to throw caution to the wind and throw these stickers away.

If anyone calls MS and tells them, I am going to be very upset.

How the heck did you get a card without an expiration date? It seems as if us "older" members all have them.

Just a thought, I have a feeling that they were unable to determine who's cards have the expiration date and who's do not, so they sent them to everyone.......

Well, everyone except me so far who definitely has a card that's going to expire on 10/31.

I never did understand the "expiration date" on our member cards. Our memberships don't expire until 2042. We can have memberships cancelled or restricted if we aren't current on payments and dues payments but we never "expire".

I assumed they had expirations in case you sold your membership, that way you couldn't keep using the card for discounts. I got my "valid" sticker today. I bought in Sept 99 and mine has an expiration of 10/31/2002.

Our cards do not have an expiration date either (at least the ones I can find....lol) I guess I'll hold onto the stickers just in case I end up finding a card floating around here that does have an expiration date. Of course, then I probably won't be able to find the stickers.....

Btw, we joined in Aug. of 2000. We were among the mass closing on Oct. 4th of that year (anyone remember that?) and didn't get our cards for months after that.....then we ended up with like 3 sets of them.

I just checked and my membership card does not have an expiration date on it, but I do remember a couple of years ago DVC sending me new membership cards with the raised letters when I had called MS and said the gold lettering had worn off so maybe that is when the cards without the expiration dates came about??? I now have 4 valid stickers for membership cards with no expiration date on them so I am going to put all the valid stickers on my card! I would not want anyone thinking I am not a "real DVC member"!!! LOL!!! Just kidding! I know my membership is valid because I was just talking to my DVC guide on Wed regarding an add on at BCV and everything was good to go! Yahoo!!

We're rather new members..2/3/02. Our cards are dated members .. 5/02 but have no expiration date. We haven't received stickers...but then we haven't received the new Members book or VM either .

Isn't this a violation of written rules or a written request? Seems like you would be a stronger advocate of following the written instructions you signed up to follow than to apply a different level of judgement to this issue. Did I missread you other posts about strong rule advocacy?

Has anyone ever had the expiration date on your card checked for any reason??? Not us! About the only time I show the card is when I first go through the gate to check in; or if I want to use valet parking at Boardwalk........have gotten a few discounts with the card, but the date was never checked........someone must think these cards get more use than they really do....I think its the same person who makes sure my newsletter arrives several days after some advertised activity

Stealing software is apparently OK for some, so maybe this falls within this category for selective rule following, picking and choosing rules to break and others to post pseudo strictness regarding. There goes credibility........again.......

Personally I don't think the sticker is any big deal, if it saves money in the future, fine. It would have made more sense to me to have a date, even if that date was five years out. But no big deal.

I for one have affixed my VALID labels to my card immediately. I'm not the "rebel" type. I would never think about putting 5 people in a one bedroom when it clearly states "sleeps 4" and I would never think of not affixing my VALID labels when it clearly states that I will need it to make reservations and it should be current. I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of the Disney Police on either of these issues.
