I'm just curious what a barracuda looks like... I have a photo I took in January, that I think is a long thin fish...My sister think it's a 'cuda. But I don't think so....and it's so blurry it is hard to tell.
??????

I sailed on the June 22 (Western) Magic. While my DW (Cam) and I enjoyed looking at the wreck and all the fish off Serenity Beach, we encountered a Barracuda. I have a photo of it if you'd like to see it. It circled us and blocked our return to the shore but never came any closer to us than about 20 yards away.

E-mail me at KeenHo@aol.com and I'd be happy to send it your way.

I think the DIS boards are great.... a question about "Barry" the barracuda is posted on 9/16 and on 9/18 a photo is posted. The response time is great. The community of DISers is a wonderful place to spend time. I really enjoy it.

Thank You... happy cruising!

Howard

I agree Howard, the people on these boards are fantasic! I would have never had half the fun I had on my cruise if it weren't for Barb& Tony, Dave and all the posters who share info with us! Also Thanks to you Howard for sending me the email of "Barry" I will be on the lookout for him in Oct. I want to get a shot of him ( from a safe distance...lol)
My guy was not as stubby nosed, but I am still curious as to what kind of fish it is. :D Thanks again!

When I was snorkeling in the Caymans, I managed to turn around to see a barracuda swimming about 1 foot away from my face mask!! They are long, slender & have a pointy snout. Needless to say, I jerked backed & stayed still for a while as I watched it swim on by.
Luckily, I wasn't wearing a necklace or anything, which is what I hear they are attracted to, thinking it's a fish.

On our honeymoon 11 years ago we were snorkleing in the keys and the divemaster told me I better take off my brand new diamond ring. Aparently the baracudas would be attracted to it. I have never worn it swimming again. Another person in our party was hesitant to leave her bobble and was in the water not more than ten mins when she was bumped by one!

*making note to myself to remove all rings & things*
