My MIL gave me a memory foam body pillow for Christmas. I love it and it is so comfortable but it has an awful chemical smell. I searched on the internet and discovered that these things need to be aired out before you use them in order to get rid of the odor. The airing-out time varied from a day or 2 to a month or more. A month is ridiculous - they should air them out prior to selling them in that case. Anyway, I have it out on the deck in hopes that the sunshine and fresh air will speed the process a bit. Does anyone have any experiece with this - how long did it take to get rid of the smell?

Hmmm....
I got one (just the standard size pillow) and it doesn't smell... of if it does I haven't noticed!
Now I'll be smelling it first thing when I get home!
I love mine!

I got one of the things you put over your whole matress. I havent even opened it yet. Ill be sure to smell it! Maybe I wil open it now and put it on tonight!

I have had one for about a year now. I have the matteress topper one. yes, I felt funny for a bit, I did spray that frebreeze stuff on it. it did go away. I loved my topper, but I am due for a new one now....I find after awhile, they fade shape wise!

I have had my temper-pedic mattress for about six months now. We love it. Ours did have a little bit of a chemical smell when we first bought it. I sprayed it with febreeze, and left the sheets and mattress cover off while I was at work all day. Smell was pretty much gone when I put the clean sheets back on that evening.

You mean like a temperpitic pillow i want a tempupidic bed sooo bad its like slepping on a clound i have tried them b4 in a store. But i didnt know some things of tempupidic smells?Never heard that b4.

I got 1 on Friday for Christmas and mine still has a bit of an odor. I have sprayed it with Frebreze but it still smells some. It is comfortable, though.

Wow! I wasn't sure if i was imagining things, or if it was because I got a cheaper one off eBay. Glad to know someone else is finging they lose shape too. I think after this one wears out, I will go back to a featherbed topper. I found out, unfortunately after buying this mattress topper that they now make a "down alternative" material for those allergic to down. :)

As for the smell, I simply left it unfolded for a day to air out. I had read online that there might be a slight smell due to the chemicals used in making the foam. It is harmless and does disipate over time.:)

I got two of the regular (not shaped) pillows from Sams. They stunk like the devil for about three months. Now I have to fight the kids to use them. They are heaven.
