Does anyone have a child thats itchy alot? My DD4.5 is like this and we're not sure why. She's had hives many times in the past year, had allergy tests done and is allergic to nothing. Her doctor said it may be from any type of illness or virus (the hives). But daily, she still is itchy once in awhile. I read a post here, about someone having a citrus allergy, and she drank sunny d constantly. So, for the last week, we found a juice w/no citric acid, and her itching actually seems to have improved somewhat. But now, she's moved on to saying things like "i bumped my arm..but i'm ok". That would be fine if she didn't have some issue constantly. I'm wondering if she is just 'sensitive'. I've talked to her dr. and she doesn't seem concerned, but I just wanted to know if anyone has a child who has gone thru anything similar, and what, if anything, youve done to help them. Thanks!

Yes, my teenage son has always been itchy. He is allergic to many things and the allergist thinks that he is overly sensitive to allergens. One thing that we've eliminated (that the allergist recommended) is fabric softener--sheets and liquid. It can build up and cause a problem with a lot of people. When he scratches himself he gets welts, which look awful. I think that might be the dust allergy.

It does come in handy when I'm playing against him in foosball--I'll say to him, "Aren't you itchy? " They he'll have to scratch himself and I'll get a goal. OK, I'm half joking... ;) :teeth:

has she had blood work done? I have chronic autoimmunine hives but the 1st thing they did was check for kidney and liver problems as well as several autoimmune diseases that can manifest with hives.

My 14 y/o was a super itchy lil' kid (would scratch himself until just about raw) and is still a scratchy-young-man.

I tried when he was younger to keep his skin always moisturized, and it made a HUGE difference. But now he's almost 15 - Mom's not allowed to run lotion on him anymore - hence, the itchies are back.

We were told it could be a mild form of excema. It was usually in the crooks of elbows and knees. We found Eucerin worked great.

But, like you mentioned - he's just sensitive. :confused3
