Went to Ulta tonight and my boyfriend bought me a Chi Flat iron, I had been wanting. It's the pink leopard one with the carrying case. Just wondering how they are? Are they worth the money? Thanks! :)

I LOVE mine. I wouldnt trade it for the world! I have an older one that I like better than my mom's purple one! Dont regret it, you will love it!

i seriously love mine  ~

a few suggestions:
~ use a protectant
~ never use the iron on wet/damp hair (it will fry your hair)
~ save the receipt (chi only honors the warranty if bought at a salon, which ulta is, so you will need it for any repairs)

btw, i bought both of mine at ulta (bought a second b/c i prob wouldn't leave my house if my only one broke:scared1: ). the first one is still going strong after a few years with absolutely no problems :thumbsup2 .
the salesgirl at ulta did tell me that the pretty colored chis are made of a different material than the boring black & gold ones (which i have), & break more easily if dropped. (i have dropped mine on a tile floor more than a few times). just try not to be a klutz (like me:rolleyes1 ), & yours will prob last years also.

enjoy!:)

I love my chi iron. I use it everyday on my very curly/frizzy hair and it works great. I have tried others and the chi is definitely worth the money.

How much is one of these? I need a new flat iron. Is it more expensive for the color ones vs. the black and gold? I just tried searching on ulta's website but it said they can't sell them online due to manufacture restrictions :confused3

They have them very inexpensive on Amazon, however you don''t get the same warranty from Amazon as if you bought from a salon/dealer. I bought one on Amazon for my uncle for about $70 that retails for about $250. I guess if they are well made the warranty isn't as necessary. I didn't price any at salons, but I figured if they were going for retail at the salons, I could afford to buy another one on Amazon for that discount. Of course the salons may be discounting them now too. I assume you are talking about the Farouk brand?

I have one for my dd's and they love it. It is expensive (about $100.00) but it is worth it.

they are pricey but worth it!

Iagree with the other commentor, always use a straightening serum or something to protect from the heat! and make sure your hair is dry or you can burn it!

For best results with my hair, I clip my hair up in sections and straighten it small pieces at a time :)

I have one. I love it. I used to work at a salon that sold them, so I got mine at a little bit of a discount. But, it's great. Works on all types of hair. It's great.

I'm the OP. The one I bought at Ulta is called the Ultra Chi Spring 08 1" Flat Iron and it was $119.95. This iron is an Ulta exclusive and I got the pink leopard design (it also comes in red, white, green, purple, and turquoise leopard print) and comes with an Ultra Chi Thermal Pouch.

Thanks for posting everyone, I really appreciate your feedback! :)

Another question...how do you store your Chi iron when not in use? I read somewhere you should never wrap the cord around it...is this true?

Vera Bradley makes a curling iron/hair straightener cover thqat I gave my girls for Christmas last year. It has a Vera print on the outside and is lined with that silver pot-holder material on the inside, so you can put it away still warm. I think my girls put theirs in the cover and then wrap the cord around the outside.

I think they were $16.00 each - it was a great gift!!

Whoa, I usually use my Chi on slightly damp hair. It doesn't get as straight if I do it on completely dry hair. I haven't noticed it frying or doing any damage. Am I doing something wrong?

I've had mine (the original black & gold, ordered through my hair stylist when they first became popular back in 2000) for eight years and it's still going strong! I'm lazy and don't use it but about twice a week or less. My hair is naturally straight but now that I'm getting older (*ahem*) I have a few more frizzies than I ever did.

I paid around $179 for it. It was totally worth it! I figured I spent that much on all the other ones that I have bought. So IMHO, I spent it once and didnt have to buy another one. :)

you really shouldn't wrap the cord around the iron b/c it can deform the cord and/or burn the wire. (i do need to get a cover tho. i let it cool down, then wrap the iron part with a handtowel when traveling).
btw, i use mine almost everyday, & by using a protectant & making sure it is totally dry, have found my hair is in much better condition than without (i do sections (exactly 5) also, like a PP:thumbsup2 ).

i paid about $120 less 20% coupon from ulta.
OP~ you're gonna love it!! :lovestruc
