I am desperate. We have minimal cc debt but daily living is killing us with everything costing more and pay not going up, actually going down. SO do you have a blank budget sheet you can share with me? I am looking for a very detailed one that includes, phone, cable, electric, internet, heating oil, gasoline for cars, groceries, dance class, boyscout fees. Any help please????

Do you have a spreedsheet program? If you do you can easily make one on your own. I have one in Excel that I made from scratch. You can then put in all the catagories that you need.

I have mine set up to total up my expenses, subtract it from my income (listed in another part of the spreedsheet) and that way I always know how much money I have left for the month. As I change, add, or delete amounts, my running total automaticly adjusts so I instantly know where I stand. A few times I've been able to spot mid-month that I'll be over budget, and can cut spending to balance it out, or pull just the right amount from savings if it's an expense I can't avoid.

I use a program that I bought from www.youneedabudget.com (the version I use is YNAB 3.0 - pro version). They used to have a spreadsheet version that worked in excel, but I think it's obsolete now... But if you can afford the one-time fee, it's certainly worth it!!

Another place you can check for a template is Microsoft Design Gallery - they have a template section, and you can search for "budget". (I used that before finding YNAB.) I've also heard about Mint.com, but I don't know how much (or if) it costs.

Good luck getting your budget in line! When I'm good about budgeting, our life is SOOO much easier (at one point we were putting $1000/month away into an emergency fund). We went through fertility treatments and had a LOT of unexpected medical bills which messed up my budget completely, so I'm waiting 'til after I have my baby, then I'm going to restart. We're feeling it, though...

that is where I found mine, I actually ended up with a monthly, and a yearly one. I found a decent one, and then tweaked it the way I wanted it and I love it! I keep a blank copy, and have a new spreadsheet for each month, and then I use the yearly one to keep a running tally of how much we made and spent each month.

You also might try vertex42. MSN recommended one of their spreadsheets yesterday for debt reduction. I saw that they also have budget ones, so you might try them. Good luck!:)
