Anyone have a Boston Terrier?

My inlaws have a Boston Terrier, and DH grew up w/them (as did his dad) as a child, etc. Definitely their dog of preference. Great size for kids, friendly, lively at times, but cuddles, too. HOWEVER, our son (5) is allergic to cats and dogs. According to his doctor "VERY" allergic. We've NEVER seen him break out or react to any dog/cat he's been around EXCEPT my inlaws Boston Terrier. Neither DH or myself are allergic to dogs/cats....just something my son has. So just be aware if you think there is a potential for any allergies w/your child or children.

Well, you never know.....I swore we were done with dogs after having to put our 4 month old puppy down.:sad1: But then one day Ozzy was brought into my husbands station (he is a P.O.) as a stray. He ran around until he saw my hubby, laid down in front of him and rolled over on his back for a belly rub! It was love at first sight!!! He did have to go to the shelter to see if anyone would claim him, but in a few weeks, he was ours forever!!!!:yay: Now we couldn't imagine life without him. Here he is:

Ozzy is such a cutie!!! Check out that stink eye in the second pic! :rotfl2:

We have a Boston, Rosie, and love her. I am/was not a dog person but my husband is. We got her before we were married and she has tolerated two small children (one that currently tries to ride her!) and she has been nothing but gentle!

We feed her the Iams in the green bag and make sure she eats nothing with corn!

She snores like the dickens and can have some killer gas but she is a love and at ten, has more energy than ever!

PM me if you have any questions!

p.s. We got her from a rescue site for BTs. She was free 8 years ago!

I love Rosies outfit! Does she have slippers on?

Hi all,

Just wanted to give you an update re: the doggy situation!

DH came around to the idea of getting a new dog, but against the Boston Terrier - he's not as endeared to them as I was, evidently! So the past week or two, we have been researching different breeds and finding ones that will fit our lifestyle. We're thinking possibly a Shih Tzu or a Havanese (although the latter breed seems to be difficult to find!) because of their low shedding and sweet personality.

We haven't told DD yet, but will soon. I know she'll be very excited. We have a "contract" that we're going to make her sign with all the rules. I don't expect her to be fully responsible for the dog, but she'll be expected to do her part.

Thanks again for sharing all of your wonderful Boston Terrier stories!!!! I'm still very intrigued by them. :)

We have 2 Bostons and love them. I was a former cat lover & hated dogs until we got our first Boston named Pebbles. She won me over & I am now a converted dog lover.:goodvibes

Yes they snore, yes they can be gassy, yes they can be very high energy, but they also have little personalities like you wouldn't believe.

We feed our dogs a high quality dog food which has almost eliminated the smell. The snoring can sometimes be quieted by positioning their heads so that they are flat & not propped up, example like on a pillow.

I would never own any other breed of dog.

I love Bostons and hope to have one someday! Just an FYI-my 11 year old lab just had cancer surgery:sad1: and while she was at the vet they noticed her awful gas.....the vet started her on a powder that I add to her food once a day for now (she said we can decrease it to a few times a week soon). Honestly......my wonderful girl hasn't had ANY gas since we started it! The powder is Fortiflora. It is amazing.

OP Your DD is certainly old enough to feed an water a pet in the contract I think I might add the pet eats before you eat feed the dog before self.

Which back years ago when animals was depended on on the farms was the way it was always done many still do it that way today.
