This past weekend, I had a message from US Air to call them because my flight had been changed.

What they really meant to say was "We have canceled the flight that you spents months watching for the perfect time, and now we are going to give you new, inconvenient flight times for the same price."

Now, I understand the bankruptcy thing, and I figured things would change, but not this bad. The worst is that we are meeting another couple flying in froma different city at the Orlando airport.

Now, they will give me a refund if I find a more convenient flight on another airline, but I can't find anything for the same price. Everything is at least $200 more for two tickets.

Just when I thought my travel plans were set!!! We leave in about a month, and now I am searching for flights all over again!!!

Any suggestions on getting good flight schedules??? We do not live that close to a large airport, so everything we take will be at least one layover.

Now, I've driven to WDW many times in the past, but do not want to put the miles on my car. And gas for DH's truck would just cost too much. I've priced rental cars, but for the distance of Michigan to Orlando (and keeping it the whole week) is just too much.

AAAAHHHHH!!!

Thanks, as always, DIS-ers, for letting me vent. I'm just so excited to go, and then this happens.

Wish me luck in finding something new.

Sorry to hear your flight was changed. I've found Orbitz is good at checking for prices on all airlines. If I find something there, I go to the airlines website to book it. I lucked out on Friday night when Orbitz found AirTran for our December trip for $135 each.

We flew US Air on Friday, and our connection from DCA to MCO was cancelled while we sat there. First they delayed it from 8:15 am to 9 AM, then at 9 they said it was cancelled. They rebooked us on the next flight out, at 9:45, but we had to go through security again at a new gate, which was a pain. The biggest pain, though, was that we WOULD have arrived at WDW at 10:30 am, and instead we weren't there till noon -- doesn't seem like a big deal, but we were only there for the weekend so every minute is precious!

I think I'll make every effort to book direct flights from now on.

That stinks that your flight was cancelled. I hope you find another one that gets you there when you want!!!

I've flown USAir at least three times out of three different Pa. airports and have yet to take off on the same flight I first booked. Changed me every time. I booked a 6 am flight just last week for a New Year's Day flight to MCO, it's now 8:20. I really don't mind this as we'll get to MCO the same time, avoid a 3 hr layover in PHL and get 2 more hours of sleep, or NY revelry, before the trip. I take it in stride because the rate was (is) $75 less than any others at AVP for that date and now the spread is greater. In approximately the same number of flighs on Delta I've never had a change.

Not Disney travel, but when I lived in Pittsburgh, I was booked on no fewer than three cancelled UselessAir flights from PIT to Westchester. Amazingly, all of these flights that were nearly empty had "mechanical difficulties", so we were combined with a Newark flight that also happened to be almost empty, and then bussed to white plains from EWR. Funny, but when the Westchester flight was full, it never once had a "mechanical difficulty".

"And Remember: USAir begins with yinz."

We also don't live near a large airport, so i understand the pricing and the connections. My suggestion to look outside the closest airport. We saved over $900 PER PERSON flying once by driving an extra hour and a half. Figure that a 2 or 3 hour drive really isn't that far and try airports within that circle.

If you can drive to Detroit you can get cheap flights on Northwest and Delta. I found numerous flights in the $165 range.

At least you were notified!!

Our departing flight to MCO changed times (not drastically) and our return flights were completely rebooked (through a different airport, as well). I was never contacted, even though I was in their self-imposed 90-day window, and would not have known about the changes until I reconfirmed the flight. Thankfully, another thread on this board prompted me to check the current price of my flights. That's when I found the discrepancies.

Had an absolutely horrid time on the phone with Reservations, but managed to confirm my NEW itinerary and receive my credit for the price drop.

If this is how they are treating their so-called "preferred members", how must they be treating Joe Schmoe?!
