I'm having a bout of severe sacrum/back pain. Started seeing a chiropractor a few weeks ago. He did an adjustment on Fri. and I was very uncomfortable Fri. night. Couldn't sit, stand or lie down comfortably. By Sat. I was in less pain. Had an apptmt. today but due to a family emergency the dr. was not in. Anyway, we are headed to the Mouse soon. I'm not sure that I want to travel in discomfortable. Has anyone gotten to WDW and needed a chiropractor? What did you do? Can you recommend anyone? I'm hoping that with each day my back will feel better. I started having manual muscle manipulation from my naturopath in Oct. My sacrum area always hurt when this was performed. I'm not sure if I've had too much manipulation to that area and this is why I'm having pain. I've never had back pain. I'm just beside myself. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I do not know about a chiropractor at DW but have you tried using an ice pack on your back after your adjustments? I started seeing a chiropractor after injuring my lower back and icing it really helped. You might also try using asorbine jr patches they work great also. Hope you get to feeling better!

I don't know what the sacrum area is, but I have a ton of back and neck/shoulder pains. I feel better instantly after an adjustment. Make sure you are drinking a ton of water too. That helps flush all the bad stuff out. You should be going at least several times a week if the pain is that bad too. Or maybe look into another Dr. to try.
I wondered about the chiropractior in the area too as I sometimes get really bad and can't move my neck. Plus sleeping on hotel beds have always messed my back up as well.

Go for a good massage. Deep tissue if you can take it!!!!!! To just pop into another chiro may not be the best. They may insist on new xrays so they can "see" or have other issues with just doing a quick 'adjustment" without "knowing" your back/history. I'm not sure I would trust someone who felt they could do an adjustment "just like that".

BTW--there is such thing as too much manipulation. I was doing chiro and PT and massages for neck & back. Felt much improvement in the neck after I dropped chiro and only did PT and the occasional masage. That being said--I would NEVER have dropped the chiro for my upper & lower back and only felt confident dropping for my neck because I had the most awesome PT I have ever encountered. And have I done the entire PT circuit in GA--I did my ortho rehab at Emory Ortho rehab; then over the years two private PT companies, Emory in Cartersville and Emory Hospital. This new company is the BEST--everyone I have referred to them LOVES them. We've even made a deal--no more referring--we don't want to share!!!!!!

This is SO True. you have to be very careful with chiropractors...some are great, but some are not. My husband is an occupational therapist and when he was in college they had speakers come in who had been paralyzed by inept chiropractors. Please please be careful people!!! Sometimes what you need IS physical therapy, not to be popped and readjusted. No judgement, just a "be careful" :goodvibes

Your right sometimes you need physical therapy.

My chiro is awesome, he give you rehab exercises to do at home or at the office depending if you don't have the equipment. He is the most knowledgable person I've met about muscles. Most of the PT's I've had were horrible and didn't have a clue what they were doing, they just followed some routine that didn't work for me, I would end up in more pain, and they would just ignore it. So for me, my chiro is way better than PT. In fact I pulled a bunch of muscle while in pt the last time and won't go back to them, unless a doc can recommend a specific pt person.

So someone mentions that some chiro did this and something bad happened. How many MD's mis-diagnose and mistreat patients!! It happens all the time.
There are bad MD, chiros, PT, etc. You have to be a savy patient and find a great treatment provider.

I would think that a good chiro would not touch you without having current films and a background on you. So, if a chiro would agree to treat you w/out doing films, then he's probably not that good.
