Ive heard of a few people getting into trouble using the mouse ears on their group shirts. Is this just a rumor or has anyone actually gotten in trouble for their shirts? I want to have group shirts for our upcoming vacation, but dont want to be hassled.

I was just there in March and my family had a number of 'homemade' disney shirts and we got nothing but compliments - from guests and staff. Someone even offered to buy my son's 'will trade brother for fastpass' shirt. Not once were we ever questioned.

We had awesome customized shirts made and plan to wear them next week. If you want to see the design: http://s37.photobucket.com/albums/e95/wehavesix/Snapbucket/

The gold colored pirate Mickey logo is on the left breast. Each person's first name is under it. The large pirate gang over a fleur de lis is on the back. The names around it are the surnames of the families going on this trip. We are all related but don't share same last names.

We had a group of 28 and had group shirts . We never had any trouble the cast would compliment us on how nice they looked .

lol when I first saw this I thought those were your kids first names!! I thought, well, that is an interesting group! Then I read on and it made more sense! I bet the shirts looked fantastic!

I also think that if people were getting in trouble for it then DISboards would not be letting people design and post images for shirts to thier site. I think it's okay as long as someone (other than disney, that is, haha) isn't making money off the deal :)

I haven't used group shirts, but I was there a couple weeks ago and there was this huge family with matching shirts that used the Disney font and everything. No one will say anything to you other than how cool the shirts are.

Ok I haven't heard about anyone getting in trouble for their shirt designs, but I just had to pop on and tell wehavesix that I LOOOOOOOVE that shirt design! We are Louisiana born & raised and I have been trying to dream up some Disney designs incorporating my beloved Fleur-de-lis. And you have pirates to boot! Love it! Not gonna steal it, lol, but it is fantastic. What company did you have print them up?

Small local company here in Monroe. We took them the Disney clip art and told the guy what we wanted. What you see is the result. The shirt is actually more purple than the picture shows. This company does screen printing for schools and local businesses. I've had them printing our pre-k tee shirts and drawstring backpacks at my school for 15 years. They do good work at a fair price. Plus we really prefer to support small business and our local economy.

They did a great job! I miss Monroe, used to go there for our weekend shopping trips when I was going to school in Ruston, lol.

I better get going on my shirt design. Want some for me & hubby to wear to MNSSHP cause we probably won't get costumed up.

the ony thing I have heard is--you can't have say a place in like my town make a Disney shirt unless they have the license from Disney. but it has been my understanding if you make them yourself and NOT making a profit then it is fine.

You may be correct but there are a LOT of people on Etsy making Disney themed items for sale. I guess Disney turns a blind eye to a certain amount of it. I doubt it hurts their bottom line much.

I wonder what Disney would charge as a licensing fee to Wehavesix for having the shirts made at her direction. Looking at her signature it appears that Disney is going to make a boat load off her over the next year. Two or three park visits and a four day cruise.

Since I'm married to Wehavesix, I figure it's around $15k....Disney, this once, please let us slide.pirate:

We've had customized shirts every year. The first year was Mickey's head (silhouette) with the boys' names under the silhouette. Last year we had Pumpkin Mickey heads with their names. This year we're going to do something different (not sure yet). The first year was made by a local shop - we carried them around and the characters autographed them all week and then they wore them on the last day. The pumpkin ears were from an Etsy seller and they wore them on a MNSSHP day. Nothing but compliments from everyone (including CMs) and the face characters were able to greet them by name :).

That business could get in trouble unless they had Disney liscense. Home made shirts are OK but comercially made may get the local company in legal trouble.

How would they know if your shirts are licensed or not?

Not Disney but Island of adventure, Many years ago before they started selling "thing 1 and thing 2" t-shirts we bought two from a shop in the U.K. which specialised in character t- shirts. We were stopped by a managerial person and asked if our t-shirts were pirate copies, they were actually licensed by the Seuss company. She was most put out. I guess thats when they started doing their own!
