Anyone gotten bad advice from these boards?

As far as being steered wrong, I guess I see how it is "possible" however, no one here is making your decisions for you! That is ultimately up to you.

When I am asking certain questions about certain places/things, I am just trying to get several different opinions then I decide.

We have only been disappointed one time... and it wasnt really advice wise...
last trip, after reading all the rave reviews about DOLE WHIPS, I told hubby we simply had to try them, that some people go just for those, others wont leave the park without one etc... so they must be great!
And we love pineapple... so we tried them! Now, maybe it is just us, or maybe I had my expectations too high because of all that I had read, but in my honest opinions, they were nothing to write home about!
They werent gross or anything, they were ok. But then again that is jmho. Just like most other things here, they are peoples opinions!

Now, if you asked have you ever been steered right by the dis boards, I would run out of room telling of all the awesome insite, and tips and codes and as you can see I could go on and on!
The dis is great!!!!!!!

So far I've made great decisions due to this board. The only thing I think I didn't like but I'm glad I at least tried it was the Strawberry soup at 1900 PF. Not my cup of soup! But I'm happy I tried it !

only one was possibly "bad" that I can think of. And that probably wasn't the fault of the tipsters. When I booked our Segway Tour for this past January, I booked the 8:30 AM Tour. When I made the ressies, EPCOT was the early entry park for that day. Well, wouldn't you know it: Disney changed the EMH days around and EPCOT was no longer the EE park that day. I asked if I should consider changing our tour to the one at 9:30 to ensure we would be there on time. Several members wrote that getting there by 8:15 would be no problem because the buses start running early enough to get people to the character breakfasts. I didn't change the ressies. The day of our tour came and we arrived at the POR bus depot at 7:35 AM. Buses came and went for the MK, Disney MGM Studios and the AK, but none came for EPCOT until 8:10. We didn't arrive at EPCOT until 8:25 and it was 8:35 before we made it to Innoventions for our 8:30 tour. Fortunately, it was no problem and we had a great time despite starting off in panic mode. The bus driver didn't seem to think we should have expected a bus any earlier. We don't know if it was a mix-up on Disney's part or if we should have changed our ressies to 9:30. I do know, if we ever do a tour again, it won't be the early one!

That is so funny, because Dole Whips are probably one of my favorite foods (the sundae version--the Dole Float). I don't remember recommending them on here, but it's funny how everything can be experienced so differently. I wasn't crazy about the AKL concierge hot offerings, and people love that on here. It's so subjective.

I have saved a fortune thanks to the boards when it comes to AP room discounts. Also I learned the best times to hit each park which translates into big savings on getting your monies worth.
Of course, everything is relative and when people are used to going high season or come from a heavily populated area, their idea of "not crowded" and mine can be worlds apart.
The best part of the boards is the enthusiasm of love of Disney that I get to savor here. I was being apologetic for wanting to go so often until I discovered that there are others just like me out there.

How many variables occur on every experience, every trip! From trip to trip our opinions change. We often go to the same places, eat the same food, and it is never the exact same. I always have to remember that when I hear someone else's opinion. There are too many variables, from an off night in the kitchen, to a cold affecting the tastebuds, to attitudes of CM's or other guests. We all like to hear about other experiences, good or bad. We hear what people say, and then make our own judgements. If a lot of people say bad things about a place we like to go to, I expect that we may be dissapointed...not that we have to change our plans.
I love the DIS boards. It is a place where we can all share our excitement for our Disney vacations! (Our happy place!)
