Anyone got the Nationwide debit card??

Hello all
i already have the NW credit card and have used it faithfully on our last 3 us/mexico holidays. However i normally like to take some cash and TC too, just incase i lose the CC, gets stolen or doesn't work for some reason!

I was going to get the traveller cheque card, but read that it had worst exchnage rate, chraged to get money out and wasn't accepted everywhere.
So i have decided to apply for a NW current account. load it with holiday money and use it to pay and withdraw cash.
HAs anyone done this??
any probelsm with it?
any advice would be great

We have both the credit and debit cards and load the Flexaccount up before we go so we can withdraw cash.

No problems - same exchange rate as the credit card for withdrawing cash although some of the ATM charge a fee - we always use the ones at Publix as they are free.

we use there debit and CC.If you do have to use a disney atm there fee is $5.00 per transaction.so if you take the max out each time £300.00 you would get $595.00 giveing you a rate off $1.985 to £1. at todays rate Heres to hoping rate stays high till august(we have got some $ at $1.93)

- a word of warning, especially if you only use them for your holidays like I do .....don't get the two mixed up like I did

...withdrawing money on a CC is a bit expensive ....needless to say mine are now clearly marked with a marker pen !!!!!!!

Or do what i did in NY, I paid by card and when I got home realised I'd used my debit card instead of the credit card!!!! Not taking my debit card the florida as I'll have the credit card while dh has the debit card.

good point...... did you actually write on the card? does this not effect their use?

I used a permenenant marker pen and wrote "VISA" across the front between the hologram and the chip .....seems to have worked as I didn't get them mixed in Cyprus last week

...luckily I only did it the once last time,..... but that was enough to cancel out any savings I had made on foreign exchange rates on the rest of the holiday

hi their my hubbey always takes his NW current account card and link it to his room key, no problem all was very good
