We have a fly/drive BA and Avis which is supposedly includes LDW, ALI and all taxes and fees, but I've read a couple of horror stories about them adding extras which go unnoticed.

Has anyone got any experience using Avis through BA?

There also seems to be confusion about whether it includes LDW or CDW are they one and the same thing essentially? I've hired more cars than enough in the US but never a fly/drive and never used Avis, so naturally I'm questioning it!

Never used them myself but I know a couple of people who have with no problem.

Their rates are inclusive, info from the site:
Inclusive car rental
Includes Unlimited mileage, CUSTOMER FACILITY FEE, STATE SURCHARGE, TIRE & BATTERY FEE, VEH. LICENSE FEE, Additional Liability Insurance (ALI), Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Thats all you need. You will find horror stories for all car rental companies without exception, there isn't a perfect one. I was once charged almost £1,000 with one even though I had prepaid, I was assured at the desk it would be refunded but still had to email on return home to sort it.
Just make sure the paperwork you sign says $0 to pay and when you return your reciept says $0 charges.

We had fly drive (BA) with Avis car hire last October. No problems at all, everything included that was necessary. No hard sell or hidden/extra charges.
My one piece of advice with any car hire is to take pictures on your phone of outside of car before you return it. I have heard of companies charging your cc for non existent 'dents' after you return it. As wayneg said there are always stories but we had no issues at all.

We had no issues either. No need for anything extra. Join Avis Preferred and you won't even have to speak to anyone, so no up sales etc.
