Has anyone bought or know about buying DVC when it is through a Trust. Our lawyer is advising to get an Florida Lawyer and.......................we go out on thursday. It all now seems really complicated. Hope someone can help.

Our DVC contracts are held in a family trust. Buying through a trust is not complicated -- just a matter of a little extra paperwork, and the paperwork is different if you buy resale or direct through Disney. Buying resale, you just send some of the pages from your trust declaration; buying through Disney, you need an "attorney's opinion letter." Both are very straighforward, but you may have a minor charge from the lawyer for the letter.

Setting up a trust is a different matter, and can be complicated and time-consuming. I don't know that I'd set up a trust specifically to hold DVC, but my situation is undoubtedly different than yours and your attorney obviously had some reason for suggesting a trust. Depending on what you are trying to accomplish, you may not actually need an attorney to set up the trust -- you might well be able to set it up yourself. But if tax implications are the issue, you will need an attorney.
