last night we lost power for a couple minutes and when the power returned I went to play a movie for dd and the vcr wouldnt turn on at all (I know we are still in the stone age we don't have tivo, we do have a dvd player but most of our movies are from my older kids on vhs)

anyway we thought it had blown a fuse so dh went to the store and each time he put in a new fuse it would blow. does anyone know what could be wrong? I don't really don't want to replace it if I don't have to. Thanks in advance for any help

Try unplugging it , then plugging it back in.

I don't know why, but this sometimes works.

Maybe the brief power outage you had fryed the VCR. Somtimes power surges will come into your house and damage the electronics. If your husband replaced the fuses then I don't know what else he can do. On my VCR, I have to open up the case. Maybe the outlet is bad and you could try to plug the thing into a different outlet. I haven't had good luck with VCRs.
