Anyone going soon who does not have their ME luggage tags?

Thanks so much for the info Shelleybelle. We leave in less than 48 hours. So far, no luggage tags. And the mail man only gets one more chance. But thanks for reinforcing my thinking (some people might call it "blind faith")-"if Disney's in charge, it will work out OK."

Just wanted to let people know I received a Fed-ex today with ME tickets so those that haven't got theirs yet there is still hope. This is my second set for some reason.

Just got back!!!! We arrived on May 6 and went directly downstairs to the Magical Express counter. I had to describe to the attendant each piece of luggage that I had (they had a chart with dimensions and stuff). We were in and out of the line in a few minutes then it was off to the line for the bus. We got right on the bus and off we went. Check in at POP was smooth too. The only issue we had was that it took our luggage FOREVER to get there. Not sure if this was because we did not receive the luggage tags. We landed at 2pm. We gave up at 7pm waiting for our luggage. It ruined that first day because we were planning on swimming at the resort. We ended up going to Downtown Disney instead and when we got back around 11pm our luggage was in the room. Next time we go we will pack the swimsuits in our carry on luggage.

The lack of tags was certainly part of the problem. We were in MCO on Sunday 5/8 and saw what happens to bags that are not tagged. They go round and round on the baggage carousel until enough time has passed that it's clear that no passengers are coming to claim them. Then an airport employee takes them off the carousel one by one and sets them aside. Two ME CMs with clipboards were looking through this very large collection of bags. They were trying to match up the info on a bag's airline routing tag with many pages of listings on their clipboard and if they did, they hand wrote an ME tag and put it on the bag. Eventually another person carried the tagged bag back to the luggage carousel and put back on the belt. Once it made its way back behind the wall, I assume the hand-written ME tag caused the bag to be pulled off by another ME CM who set it aside to be loaded on to a truck.

Given the large number of bags that were sitting next to each carousel and many others still to be pulled off the carousel and how few ME CMs there were to do the searching and tagging, it's not surprising it was taking so long for the bags to arrive at the resorts.

Having so many unclaimed bags clogging up the luggage carousels also slowed down unloading luggage from incoming flights because they had to wait for airline employees to clear unclaimed bags off the belt so new bags could be put out for waiting passengers.

The ME tags are vital to the efficient delivery of the luggage. Until they can correct the problems that are preventing them from getting tags out to all travelers, I suspect there are going to be long delays in delivering the luggage to the resorts.

AAA just called me to tell me my tags arrived - YIPEE!!

She said I didn't have to pick them up, that Disney ensures they will take care of everything. Little do they know I check out the DIS and KNOW to have my tags is a VERY GOOD IDEA!! I'll be picking them up today! What a relief!
