I wonder if the crowds will be gone, one thread said there was a conference being held that week and the people get to go to Disney in the afternoon, please respond if you know anything thanks!!

I'll be visiting the DLR during that time period, and I'm expecting moderate crowd levels. The Anaheim convention center will be hosting 2 conferences with at least 1500 attendees each during that week. These conventions are small enough that their impact on crowd levels shouldn't be a big problem. IMHO, the more worrisome fact is that there doesn't seem to be any available rooms at either PP or DLH from the 17th-20th. I decided to splurge by staying on property and take advantage of early entry, but I guess a few other people got the same idea. :confused3

As long as you don't expect empty parks, get there at opening, and plan your days wisely - you should still have a wonderful trip. :)

I'm going then!

I was not expecting an empty park due to the newness of Carsland. I figure lots of people would wait until fall to go to avoid the crush of the summer crowds. And I would imagine regular DL vacationers would put their spring trip off a few months to see the new CA renovation. I am prepared for moderate crowds. We plan on using the Fastpass system and being ready to go with the flow. If it is less busy than I am expecting, then that is a bonus!

That being said I don't think the park is going to be bursting! We are there for a week so don't need to fit everything into 3 days. We will be going for rope drop (10am weekdays) and be pretty much finished the day mid-late afternoon. If the kids want to head back after a swim and dinner for a couple hours we can. Our game plan for the weekend days is be there for rope drop(8am) until 2-ish head back to the hotel for a swim, chill time and dinner, then head back to the park for the evening and to see fireworks etc.

I have been reading the trip reports from the last few weeks and the parks do not seem to be too bad even now. I am in Canada and most of the school systems do not go back until after Labor Day. I did not know that most of the schools in CA have already gone back. I would have thought it would have been mega busy until after the long weekend.

I am curious to see what the more experienced DIS-ers have to say!

Hey Ang I am doing as much research as I can because we are going that exact week.We specifically chose that week to beat the crowds thinking most people have kids in school. We are staying at the Disneyland Hotel so my concerns for now are just a crowded Hotel and restaurants at the hotel itself. If there are conventions , they are during the day so I am hopeful that it will clear up room in the park during that time. Other hotels are not all booked so perhaps its just the Disneyland hotel that had a deal. The only thing I found was this site..

The site has the crowds listed as low(actually lised as "ghost town").I am thinking it will be far from a summer crowd. I will keep you posted.

Thanks hope you have a great trip and it wont be too crowded for us :)

Looking at the website listed above it concerns me that in October they show many of the weekdays to be "ghost town." I've gone either the second or third week in October for the last 6 years and think it is one of the busier times of year because of the Halloween decorations and the Mickey trick or treating (much busier than May or beginning of December). I have always read in the past how light the crowds are in September before the Halloween decorations, so hopefully you will have fantastic time! :)

I checked availability on this date and it has vacancy now. Perhaps a block of rooms were set aside and no longer are? Anyway-the future is looking brighter, lol.:goodvibes
