Anyone Going Oct 15- 22??

Oct 21-26. Looks like we will be arriving when most of you are leaving. The parks will be packed on the 22nd but will hopefully be manageable after that. We are at the Dolphin and plan to hit HS emh in the morning of the 22 then AK for the afternoon and PFTS that night.

We'll be there from Oct. 16th-22nd!! Driving down pulling our travel trailer and staying at Fort Wilderness. This will be my very first WDW trip and we are celebrating my 39th bday AND our 10 year wedding anniversary! This will also be the 1st trip for our 6 year old son and our furbaby! I am packing and preparing but I tell ya today I am VERY emotional! I keep having tears of joy well up! :cloud9: I just can not believe that in 4 days we will actually be there! :woohoo:

We will be there October 17-24 (our Fall BreaK) and we'll be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge! We're doing MNSSHP on 10/18! Looking forward to trying this time of year! :cheer2:

We had a great trip! Hope everyone did too! The crowds were really manageable with the exception of Wednesday morning at Hollywood Studios. The crowds were down again by around 3pm though and we walked into Fantasmic 15 mins before the show started and got the best seat we've ever had. So happy we didn't get the stomach thing that was going around!

It's funny how different people view the same thing. I thought the parks were ridiculously crowded each day I was in them. On Monday, the 17th, there was a 25 min wait for Small World!! I don't think I've seen that happen other than the first week of free dining during the summer! Everything was a huge wait....well, except the People Mover.
AK was crowded when we were there, DHS was nutty, and Epcot was a mess. I have been at this time of year mulitple times and have never seen as many people in the parks. All the crowd predictors had last week to be a fairly low crowd time. Yeah, not so much.
Even the late Fantasmic was crowded and nearly full...and it was chilly to boot!!!
Just goes to show that there are not so many low attendence periods anymore.

I agree with you 100%. We had to get out of AK it was so crowded. DHS was packed and we couldn't get a fast pass for TSM (we went in the afternoon) and the stand by wait was 80 minutes! Friday at MK was a ZOO. We left there too because we couldn't stand it. This totally used to be the best time of year to go, crowd-wise, but not so much anymore. I did notice huge numbers of Europeans, so I think because of the exchange rate right now, Disney has really marketed to that group. I also overheard some people talking about how their kids are on these year-round school schedules now and they have "fall break" - two weeks off in the fall. There were LOTS of kids there, it seemed like summer to me, when in years past, the only kids at this time of year had been little kids in strollers (under school age). Maybe it will go back to being less crowded when the exchange rate goes back the other way... (that may never happen with this economy!).

We also noticed the number of Europeans. I actually thought it was great for my daughter (5) because she got to meet and talk to so many kids from all over the world while waiting in line.

I have no basis for comparison re: the crowds since this was our first trip, but I didn't feel like they were overwhelming at all. There was no ride that we had to wait longer than 20 minutes for (using FP), and we got to do everything on our list that we wanted to do. I did notice that the MK was packed on Friday the 21st, especially in comparison to the crowds we saw on Sunday (the 16th) and Wednesday (the 19th). EPCOT, DHS, and AK didn't seem bad at all the days we went there.

Someone on the DIS posted that the 21st was so busy because a lot of FL schools were closed that day for a fall break weekend.

We go this week every year and by far this was the busiest. We went to MNSSHP on Thursday and couldn't get over the crowds. The candy lines were huge!

We were in the MK on Thursday and Friday and the amount of people coming into the park around 4-6pm was insane! We were so glad we didn't spend money on the party this year. We were disappointed the last time we went to the party because it was so crazy. The first time we went Disney had limited the number of tickets so it was awesome.

I also noticed a lot of people from Europe. I wondered if they were on a Fall break as well. Also, I live in NC and we have a lot of year round schools but that shouldn't affect Disney that much since they go 9 weeks on and then have 3 week breaks. It makes for plenty of Disney opportunities.

I'm wondering how nuts it will be next year with the Fantasyland opening! Hmmm.

Fall Break is going on right now in England, we call it 'half term'. It's a week off School from the mid Oct-early Nov, when your week off is depends on where you live. So Brits tend to go to WDW in October for 2 weeks because that means only 1 week of School which is the limit you can have off these days. & Ofcourse because the weather is much more bareable than it is in August! :thumbsup2 I'm not sure about the rest of Europe though.

I totally agree with you. On the Wednesday, the 12th and Friday the 14th, it almost felt like Christmas week. The crowds were unbelievable, there was even a wait for the Tomorrowland People Mover! I was shocked at how bad it was. I did notice a difference by the time we went back on Tuesday, the 18th. But it was definitely NOT like Octobers in the past.

Yeah, we did a little park hopping on Friday the 21st, and it was horrible all around. LInes were crazy. Buzz was at 55 and Haunted Mansion was at 30 when we gave up and left. Space Mountain was also over 60 minutes from what I was told. Usually on Friday afternoon, my habit is to stop at the Mainstreet Bakery on the way out around 3 and pick up a couple cinnamon rolls for breakfast the next morning before checkout. There's generally 3-4 people in line when I go. The bakery line was all the way around the restaurant and out the door at 3 PM. I passed this time...

I don't know WHAT was up. Going by Touring Plans crowd level indicators, Friday the 21st was a 10 in the MK...

We were in the parks the 15th - 20th and we thought they were extremely crowded. We usually go in June, so it wasn't really any different than what we're used to, but I was hoping for a little less people. The only exception for us was Tuesday the 18th...we did AK in the morning and we didn't wait more than 5 - 10 minutes for anything, including Everest. I guess the 100% rain forecast had something to do with that, although I think it only drizzled for maybe 5 minutes. We did the F&W Festival that evening when it actually did start raining, and we didn't have to stand in lines at any of the booths.

We went to MNSSHP last Thursday, and it was packed. We only made it through 2 of the candy lines before we decided we would just skip the candy.

I guess I'm in the minority on this thread, then. I thought the crowds were just fine, had no problems on Wednesday or Friday (Epcot). Maybe it was OK for me because we're not commando type anymore? But it was much less crowded than Dec. 12-18 last year, and not nearly as cold! :lmao:
