Anyone going Geocaching this weekend? **NEW CACHERS...POP IN!**

The name we use on the site is JonesCrew. We had to disable one of the new caches for now. I was afraid it would happen, the cache was in a fence post. Looks like the magnet came off the container in the heat and slid WAYYYYYY down into the post. Oh well, we will have it up again soon.

Congrats on your 20 placed caches, lilallybean!   Your new ones look like lots of fun! Now, if you had placed those in our area, you would have had about 8 finds the first day...all trying to be FTF...LOL! Missouri...my sister was born in Kansas City. :teeth:

Anyone caching/vacationing any time soon?

Happy caching! :magnify:

We just hid another one today, I doubt that it will be found for a while. It is in the middle of nowhere! There just are not many hard core cachers in our small town. My brother actually called me earlier today and told me that he had talked to some members of SLAGA-St. Louis area geocachers Assoc. They were talking about how we have more than doubled the number of caches in our little neck of the woods recently. Welll, since we have found all of them here (except some MEAN puzzle caches) we have to hide some to get a geo fix.
We are heading up to ELy Minnesota in about 3 weeks so we will be hitting some on the way to and from there. We will be doing some VERY primitive camping on the boundary waters. This will be our second trip there.
How about the rest of you...any trips coming up?
Did anybody want copies of those CDs?

No trips planned here, but tomorrow we will cache with a couple other people. It will be fun! And maybe they can check on one of their caches that I DNF'd a couple months ago. LOL! Nice to cache with the owners. ;) I have about 11 for tomorrow. Sunday will be another day. Hopefully in VB to get a neat new Mystery cache. LOVE those!!!

Glad to hear your area has gotten so many new caches over time. That's great! One of the cachers a few months back posted something on a Yahoo board. He wanted to start an alphabet soup series. It's really taken off! He placed "A" which is too cute! A Campbell's Alphabet Soup can in a burlap bag. LOL! I cracked up when I found it. So all the caches start with...HR Alphabet Soup: A is for Alphabet Soup. Etc. Tomrrow we'll hopefully be looking for HR Alphabet Soup: Z is for Zippity Doo Dah...and for...HR Alphabet Soup: X is for Xscape to Bluebird. LOLOLOL! These two are at Bluebird Gap Farm. Anyway, lots of people in the area have taken a letter of the alphabet and come up with a cache. It got 26 new caches out there!   Lots of fun!

Well, if I'm going to meet cachers at a park at 9 a.m., I better hit the hay!

Happy caching! :magnify:

Hope everyone is well and having fun CACHING! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I'm not sure where we're headed this weekend. We do have the tax-free weekend on school clothes, etc. So we'll definitely have to get that done. I have a TB of mine to pick up. It's a bit of a drive, but we can do that! It is in the area, just not as close to home as I'd like. Hmmm...I guess we'll have to get those few caches out in the boon docks! Geez. Wish people would place at least two when they do that. :teeth:

A good thing...with the help of some great cachers, we finally found a cache that was driving me up the wall! LOL! If you have a chance, read our recent posts for #11. Yes, #11 is the name of the cache. LOL! That would translate to bridge #11 at a nearby park. And #11 is my #1,300! Woooo hoooo!! :woohoo:

Anyone caching this weekend?

Happy caching! :magnify:

Hi Everyone!
Don't faint! I know I've been away for a while but we've just had a lot of things going on here and not a lot of time for caching. We did actually get out this past weekend and we had one find and one DNF. That was only the second time we had been out all summer, as far as I can remember.
Anyway, I hope everyone has been having more fun caching than us! I just thought I'd drop a note to let you know I'm still around. If have to head to work so I don't have time right now to go back and read the pages I've missed.
Good caching!
Mike

Hi, Mike! Good to hear from you!

At least you've gotten a couple caches in. I know sometimes projects go on longer than expected. There's a cacher in a town nearby who is "raising" the house. They're in a flood zone, and I guess they figured it was time. I hear his wife complains all the time about it. LOL! She's had enough of it. I hope they finish it soon.

We didn't get out caching at all this weekend. These days it feels like more work than anything. I guess because they're now so scattered in our area. Lots of driving, not enough caching. Not in the mood for a "road trip" anywhere. LOLOL! We just need 500 new caches in our area. ;)

Have a great day, and Happy Caching! :magnify:

Hi, everyone!

Anyone else have fantastic weather today? Our high for the day should be 70 degrees!

Any good caches lately? We're headed to a new Earthcache in our area. Woooo hoooo!!! My favorite type of cache!    So we'll be searching for the other two in the same park.

Happy caching! :magnify:

Here I am again! Every couple months I sneak in, post something and then sneak out. :confused3
We finally got to do some caching this past weekend, at our local geocachers annual fall picnic. We had a great turnout and really enjoyed seeing some of our old caching pals. In the process, we found 5 caches + got credit for the event cache! We're up to 287 finds now and have a trip to FL coming up in less than two weeks. We'll be staying at my cousin's condo in Cape Canaveral and we hope to do some more caching down there, like we did in February. We should have no problem going over the 300 mark. We're also planning a day at SeaWorld, since we've never been there. The loss of our geocaching loving Border Collie, Koati, back in January really hit us hard and it has been tough to go without her. I think the picnic really helped with our mental therapy and we may be able to take Casey and Tucker and get back out again more often now.
Erin is doing great! She's 19 months old now and running all over the place and talking up a storm! We really enjoy our time with her and we look forward to taking her on her first cache hunt. She really loves being "outside". David is doing fine at Andrews Air Force Base and our daughter, Melissa, and her hubbie are both great.
I sure have to remember to check in here more often but I guess that will come naturally if we start caching more again.
Take care everyone and good caching!
Mike of Team SAR-Dogs

Hi, Mike! Glad to hear all is well. Can't believe Erin is 19 months! Time just flies by. I'm sure she keeps everyone running and entertained. :yay: Glad to hear that the kids are great, too. My nephew is out on the boat. They were headed for training somewhere down in the islands, then had orders changed. They were told to turn the boat around and head to...ALASKA! :cool1: :yay: :woohoo: I hear the entire boat cheered when they got that order! :teeth: Then there's my former boss in FL who isn't doing too great at present. Her daughter must be in the Air Force about 4 years now. She's been fortunate to be state side all this time. But in a bit over a week, she's headed to Iraq. :( I know that will be tough on her mom.

Glad you and your wife got to the picnic. Events are so much fun. And good to hear you picked up a few caches while there. :woohoo: I can just imagine how much you miss Koati. Pups do have a way of making their own place in our hearts. And I'm sure Casey and Tucker would love caching with you! :dogdance: :dogdance:

Your trip to FL sounds great! Enjoy it!! Does SeaWorld have a cache? ;)

We've been slowing down a bit with caching. Now that darling son has started high school, there's lots he needs to do. That's okay. Still getting out part of a day on the weekends to cache.

Hope everyone else here is doing well! Happy caching! :magnify:

We made it to Cape Canaveral and had an enjoyable time. Staying at our cousin's "retirement" condo gave us a taste of the good life, that's for sure! Lounging by the pool, enjoying the local restaurants, talking about health issues, and other retirement type things. One of the women there has actually done some caching with her daughter and we managed to find one that had eluded them. We found 11 in total, mostly micros, and missed a few, which is pretty typical. I think we now have 297 so we're finally approaching 300! We also managed to see the launch of a Delta II rocket from the Space Center. The launch pad was only a few miles from where we were so we had a nice view of that. We also got to SeaWorld for the 1st time but didn't even think about caching there. It's a nice park and we really enjoyed the shows.
It's time to get ready for work (reality) so I have to run.
Good caching!

Sounds like you had a good trip, Mike! I had to laugh that you found someone while on vacation who has been caching. :teeth:  Interesting how the topic does seem to surface!

Just a few more to hit 300! Woooo hooooo!!!   Taking them as they come, or will you plan a specific cache for that number? Neat you saw the launch, too.

I haven't been caching in two weeks. :earseek:  :faint: I'm very glad we've had rain the last couple days, so I won't complain about rain tomorrow. But I'm not as energetic about caching in the rain. I'll skip it. Will have to wait for the next sunny day.

Happy caching! :magnify:

Anyone else having fun with the new "Geocaching.com Google Map"s? When it comes up there is a box on the upper right..."Zoom to Address." Type in "Disneyworld." :teeth: :teeth: You will see the five caches there! How easy!!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving, Geocachers!

Anyone going out caching today? Maybe after the turkey and goodies in order to get them moving? Wouldn't want anyone to fall asleep. We're headed out in a little bit. I bought a new GPS recently, so I'm hoping this is a bit more accurate and we find caches in less time! :wizard: We've cached in the past on Thanksgiving...not a soul on the road!

Whatever you're doing, I hope it's a GREAT day!!

Happy caching! :magnify:

WOW! I can't believe I have not been on here in months! What can I say? We have been so busy that I just never seem to make it to the boards. I went back and read the postings since I was last here! Sounds like you all have been busy! MiJo...did you get to 300 yet? I can't believe Erin is getting so big! Seems like you were just waiting for her birth a few months ago.
Pin Wizard...you seem to be holding our little group together. What number are you upto now? I am so glad you have kept the thread going-thanks!
As for us, the kids are always busy with something. Having a teen driver really stresses me out, but he is doing well. He just hates to geocache. The otehr two kids, my hubby and I have been logging several finds over the last few weeks. We have attended some events that really boosted our numbers. We attended our first CITO, did a 8 mile walking trailand got 30+ new caches, a 16 mile bike trail (its true that once you learn how to ride ya never forget, but your body will make you pay!), and then yesterday we went to the SLAGA (St. Louis area geocachers assoc) Christmas party. We were thrilled to log the party as our 500th!!! I really enjoy getting together with this group, they are such a fun and busy little group! We have now caches in 14 states, and I look forward to adding a new country this summer when my hubby and I go on a little cruise.
The triplets are now 11 months old and starting to really move around. They are slightly behind most babies their age since they were preemies, but they are doing very well.
I am so glad that I finally made it back to the thread and I will do my best to stay with it this time. Hope you all are doing well and I will look for more from each of you soon.pirate:

Hey guys. I'm popping in to show you my latest creation.

Almost finished. I just need to paint the orange cap brown.

The plan is to:
call it "sometimes you feel like a nut";
hang it in a pine tree, but in an area of lots of oak trees & acorns; and
list it as a micro so they think they are looking for a small cylinder cache in the woods. hehehehehehe

It was a $2.97 LARGE hollow Christmas ornament from Walmart; cut a hole for an orange waterproof match container & filled acorn with spray foam.

LOLOL!! SplshMtn, you also have gone to the dark and evil side of caching. :teeth: :lmao: :lmao: That's FANTASTIC!!! :) When it's published, you'll have to give us the GC number so we can see cachers' comments. :teeth: Congratulations on a spectacular job!

lilallybean...I'm sorry I didn't post sooner. If the boards sent a notification when you posted, I must have missed it. Sounds like you're just busy with life. Life gets in the way of caching. :headache: :scared: Congratulations on your finds! Seems like you just started caching not too long ago either. Time flies! It's good to hear that you have a good group of cachers in your area.

We went to an event this past weekend. Had lots of fun in a relaxed atmosphere. The person in our area with the most finds basically resurrected the first event in our area...which was archived at the time for lack of interest. But a good group attended this time around! Lots of fun. And great to pick up caches along the way to the event. Turned into a great caching day.

I'm trying to push my way to the next major milestone. Right now we're at 1,457. How much further to 1,500? Can we do this by Christmas? ;)

Hope everyone has fun caching out there. Not sure yet where we'll head this weekend. It's been nice caching around our home territory.

Happy caching! :magnify:

Are any of you going to GeoWoodstock VI megaevent in CA next May? We are!!! We are turning it into a 2 week caching vacation. San Fran, Sacramento, Tahoe, Yosemite, & Fresno.....so far. :cool1:

http://www.geowoodstockvi.com/

We are addicted too or at least I am. But after 5 yrs, we still only have 435 finds. Life just gets in the way too much. But I try to squeeze in a roadside type cache everytime I leave the house if at all possible. Unfortunately, my part time job takes some weekends. And we just aren't as fortunate weatherwise up here as some of you. Although, snow doesn't stop me, ice does. I also seem to be doing lots more alone caching this year, so I'm really cautious about where I go. Maybe too cautious. Going paperless earlier this year made it easier to find a cache on a whim. It did increase our #'s this year more than any other year.

No Geowoodstock in CA for us. I'm not a fan of CA. :lmao: I should have gone this year with it being so close to home, but boarding the dog, the bird. :teeth:

I watch where we go caching also. I had posted something on a Richmond yahoo board quite a while back asking for good areas to cache, areas to avoid. One person e-mailed me that all his caches are in good areas, start with his. We've had luck so far although an occasional area made me a bit uncomfortable. Then we started working on a multi of his with a couple Richmond cachers. While we were out hunting, someone broke into one of the other people's cars. :scared1: Hung around for the police, went to lunch and more caching after that. She and her son are troopers!

Caching has been a good diversion from real life. As a single parent, I absolutely HATE being home on the weekends. That's why we're out caching for hours on Saturdays and Sundays. Even with the price of gas, it's still cheaper than hitting the mall for a day. :) Although now it seems I have to share the time more and more for DS's school projects, reports, homework, etc. Still fun though! And we have two new caches near home! Woooo hoooo!!

Happy caching! :magnify:
