Anyone going Geocaching this weekend? **NEW CACHERS...POP IN!**

Okay I found my first one with out GPS... ahahahah VERY easy to find! I knew were to look... it was in the tree in a little glass bottle that said do not remove ahahah WHOOHOO for me!

WAY TO GO!!! :cheer2: :woohoo: It is such a fun and healthy pasttime! I hope that you are planning on doing some more. Did you log your find on the website? Make sure you do that so you get credit for it. Again...CONGRATS!

it looks like there is one in our local mall parking lot on a light pole.. gonna go find that tomorrow I think.... some of these are me are too easy... I guess that happens to be because i've lived here all my life.. the maps alone give some of them away

I got my new red jeep in the mail today!!! This is the first time I have been able to actually fet one of the jeeps to start. Waiting to see what the challenge is. Will try to get it out on the road this weekend!
I also had to share that I got my 3rd FTF Wednesday! It was a cache that I had tried for twice before. I decided that the coords had to be WAY off and emailed the owner. He didn't think it was off, but after checking everything found that it was almost 5,000 feet off. Yep, that would be why I couldn't find it. Hubby and I had actaully been very close to finding it with the wrong coords, but just missed it. The owner emailed me back the coords right before he reposted the correct coords. He said he wanted to give me a jump start at FTF since I was the only one who nicely pointed out the error. We have almost 350 finds now, but just 3 FTF.
Happy hunting all, time to get to work.

Solferino...Welcome to this fun thread! :) A tournament coming up? I'm sure you'll have a blast! A couple years ago they had a "Kettle Cache" in Virginia Beach which was hooked up to the Salvation Army. I was still pretty new at the time and didn't participate, but everyone I heard talking about it had a blast!! Let us know how it goes! :cool1:

We have found a couple of caches here that are bolts. And one person in particular is notorious for them. If we see a cache is his and a micro, that's the first thing we're looking for. :teeth: He has at least three of them out there. Then we found another in Richmond. In talking with that owner, he got the idea from one he found here by the owner mentioned. Ha ha! It spreads! :teeth:

Helene...Wooo hoooo!! Congratulations on your first find! :teeth: Are you hooked yet or will it take another find?  Did you get to the cache at the mall yet?

lilallybean...Congrats on the FTF! Yeaaaaaaaa!!! :teeth:  :yay: I had several hundred under my belt before my first FTF. LOL! Few and far between. Around here people will be out in the rain at 11 p.m., out at 3 a.m. to get a FTF. Two of my FTFs were done on Sunday mornings. I guess it sometimes pays to go to church on Saturday afternoon rather than Sunday. ;)

Glad to hear that you got a jeep! I have one sitting here waiting to be placed. I may have to revisit a decent sized cache in the area. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...which one? :cool2: Hopefully, we'll place it somewhere tomorrow. Today has been a fun day checking out our new computer. Finally back to a desk top after the lap top died. Wooo hoooo!! I hope our weather tomorrow is nicer than its been today.

Happy caching! :magnify:

Hey, fellow cachers! My family is heading to NM soon, and I've printed about 20 geocachers to find! Can't wait! Some of them will be a bit of a hike. Some will require use of the 4 wheel drive on DH's new Jeep! (That's what he's most excited about!) Will let you know how it goes.

Have you ever done any virtual caches? The couple we've done have been truly awesome. They took us to places that are very near to home that we didn't even know were there! Very cool.

What is the "new red Jeep" that came in the mail that Lilallybean is talking about?

Hi, ElizK! :wave2:

Caching in NM! I love when we hit new territory. Sounds like you'll have lots of fun! :teeth: The perfect excuse for your husband to try the 4WD!

I've done a few virtuals. I was sorry to see the web site do away with them. They really do take you to some interesting places. But I'd have to say I'm addicted to the Earth caches! They're fantastic!! If you find any in the area you'll be visiting, be sure to try one. They will show you some pretty spectacular and natural things.

The new red jeeps are the latest travel bugs circulating courtesy of the Jeep corporation. Each year they've been putting them out. Is this year four? There are yellow jeeps, white jeeps, and last year was the green jeeps. This year is red. Love moving these things around and having a couple on my watch list to see where they go. Fun! Wish I traveled as much as they do! :teeth:

Hope you have a fantastic trip! Let us know how your caching goes. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Happy caching! :magnify:

Thanks! We're excited

I haven't done any Earth caches. Actually hadn't heard of them. I'm going straight to geocaching.com to see what I can find out! thanks!

Well, the nearest Earthcache to me is nearly a hundred miles away. Sigh. But I can still search virtual caches...

You sure can! Virtuals are great, too. I think my favorite one close by is one where the Battle of the Ironclads took place. Interesting!

Happy caching! :magnify:

Anyone going Geocaching tomorrow? :teeth: We should at least go get a few. Don't know if we'll spend the entire day at it though. :)

Making my list to do tomorrow as we speak (or type)! I am looking forward to the day. This will be the first time that the triplets are with me caching!!! Ok, so we are not going to spend the DAY caching...we are going to Grant's Farm near St. Louis and there just happen to be some caches that we can visit there too! http://www.grantsfarm.com/ The area is rich in American Heritage so maybe I can find a good cache to place put the jeep! Hope that you all have a Happy and SAFE 4th and HAPPY HUNTING!pirate:

Neat farm! And the Busches are tied to it. Nice to see something positive like that. :) Have fun! And have fun caching with the triplets! :teeth: You will have them hooked. ;)

Happy 4th and Happy Caching! :magnify:

I dropped our red jeep off the other day at a cache I have in Williamsburg. Someone already picked it up and is planning to take it to NC with them. LOL! I feel like I hear of more people taking them elsewhere than leaving them here to move around. Oh, well. We still have one more to place.

Happy caching! :magnify:

What a fun day. I fould one cache that was VERY creative! Bad Monkey Toll Gate was the name of it. VERY VERY cool! I also came across another apple cache. It was near an AppleB's. My favorite part of the day was going to my TB hotel. A cacher by the name rixart, recently found it and left a couple CDs in it for me. I picked them up and started listening to them on the way home. The songs are all somehow connected to geocaching. So creative and so fun! I only had 6 new finds today, but it was fun. The babies didn't get to be with me as I did any of the finds. They will just have to go another time. The farm was great, I always enjoy going there.
I can't wait to hear that one of us one the Jeep contest for the week! Wouldn't that be nice!
Have a great 4th all!

Sounds like you had a great time, lilallybean!   I will have to look up the cache you thought was so cool. :thumbsup2 Sorry the babies missed out on the fun, but they will be caching with you at some point! :dance3: :magnify: Neat that someone left you CDs. They sound interesting. Did they make the CDs themselves, or did they compile exisiting songs that could be interpreted and fit to Geocaching? :woohoo:

We didn't do any caching on the 4th. We'll have to get out there this afternoon. There are a couple new caches, so we'll have to see if there's anything else around them. The FTFers commented on how nice it was to find a cache without any poison ivy, bugs, etc. around.  :yay: :yay: :cool2:

Hope everyone has a great day! And happy caching! :magnify:

The songs are some that he downloaded and they all have some connection to geocaching. I received the following email back from the guy:

My pleasure! I created two CD caches in Atlanta and decided to bring a taste of
them to my home state. Feel free to share them with anyone you like. All songs
were downloaded legally.
Happy Trails!
Rixart
So if you are interested in getting a copy let me know. I would be happy to make copies for my fellow WDW/geocaching nuts.:dance3:

OHHH...how could I forget??? My youngest DS and I placed some new caches yesterday. 11 of them! Nothing fancy, but we needed some new caches in the area. One of the guys who had placed a bunch here, shut down several of them. We may try to 'upgrade' them latter, but I did want to get them out there. We used zip ties to connect some fake food to some micros. One example is- Cucumbersome cache. They have been up since about 9PM and no finds listed yet on them.

Sandy-I know what you mean about seeing those logs that say no poison ivy in the area! I don't really have much trouble withit, but my two youngest do. I hope that you were able to get out there and snag some good ones today!

I have really started getting to work on our list of caches to hit when we go to the Boundary waters in a couple weeks. I wish that I had been able to figure out the paperless caching, but I just can't seem to figure it all out.

Congratulations on placing all those caches, lilallybean! Wooooo hoooooo!!!!! :cool1: Fantastic job! Sounds like they'll be a lot of fun to find. Okay, what is your name on the web site? I'm going to have to look at your profile and see all of them that you placed! :teeth:

Saturday was a good day considering we found 8 caches. That's good for our area. LOL! We need to travel!! Sunday we found two. LOLOL!! :lmao: :lmao: Two out of a whopping four close to home. :confused3 One we missed for the 4,038,267th time was on a trail. I've e-mailed someone to see if we're even checking the correct side of the bridge. The other is a virtual. I've e-mailed the owner on that one. He actually adopted it from the original owner. Told him I wasn't too thrilled having to pay $25 to get into the Mariner's Museum just to go out the back door to a replica of the SS Monitor to find something in "rusty" water, as the descrpition says. Sheesh! I wish the owners would mention fees on the page! The page does say you might want to stop in the museum and there is a fee, but it doesn't tell you that this is required to find the cache! Grrrrr. That would be $12.50 entrance for each of us.

Have fun working on the list! I'm with you on paperless. I recently bought a Palm Pilot. Haven't even taken it out of the house yet, and don't do much with it! I don't need it for the calendar, etc. I guess I really should visit a nearby Panera Bread and see if I can get GC.com on it. I should be able to do that, right?

Happy caching! :magnify:
