You guys did a great service at the CITO event! Kudos!

My son thought his peanutbutter pie was great. I thought the p'butter was a little strong. My DW mentioned something about using 1/2 cup of p'butter and it dawned on me that I used a FULL CUP! No wonder!

My S-I-L actually gave me a T-shirt with that saying printed on it for my last b'day! I guess that's what we do.

I have actually been thinking about having some bumper stickers made that I can place in caches---something along the line "I'd rather be geocaching" with a small: JonesCrew on it. What do you all think? Would you like that if you found it? There is a local store that can make them up at a reasonable price. Any otehr ideas?

At the very bottom of the page towards the right is a link for Geocache Buttons or something similar. Click that, then click Geocaching. They have a ton of buttons that can be personalized. I'm trying them out but haven't received my order yet. A few more days and then I'll e-mail them if they haven't arrived.

lilallybean...Is your friend hooked? It just takes one cache! I remember my first cache and the thrill of it. Of course, my first one had lottery tickets in it, and I won $7. But I was hooked right away!

Oh! I forgot to mention darling son's GREAT luck! We were given a couple raffle tickets at "the door" yesterday. The person holding the CITO raffled off a few Geocoins! Darling son had a winning ticket!! And he chose the 2006 Compass Rose Geocoin for me! What a kid! Quite an unexpected surprise. I'll tell you...I had my eye on that coin before they were released. I got home from work one day and saw the e-mail that they had been released. I tried to order one, but they were all ready gone. What luck to get this one! So this coin will all ways remind me of this CITO. Bring on the next one! Actually, there's a campfire in April at one of the city parks. Woo hoo!!! Can't wait for that! Better get the bikes in shape to hit the caches in the park. Mine needs a new tire I think. It won't hold air at all.

I didn't have any complaints about the pie, that's for sure! We have logged a couple coins but don't own any. Our two TB's are moving around: one in Texas and one in Oregon (I think). I had a little concern that the one in the NW had been permanently taken after it hadn't been placed in another cache for a couple months. I even emailed the people who took it. As it turned out, they had placed it but didn't log it in correctly on the site. We've already lost one in DE so I'd hate to lose another.

lilallybean: Here's a link for Bumble Buttons. We are awaiting our second order now. I ordered a bunch of the "Heading Out" buttons with one male hiker, one female hiker and 2 border collies plus our Team SAR-Dogs name. We only have one "Coming Home" button left. I believe they are very busy because this order has taken a lot longer than I had expected. I did hear from them a couple weeks back but it has been a month since I placed the order. Maybe I should drop them another email. They usually ship buttons within 7-10 days. All the best to you with your upcoming surgery!

Glad you know where your TBs are, Mike. I recently received two TBs I ordered. I always wonder why some vanish and others travel around a couple years! We recently found a little stuffed animal - Timon - in a cache. I'm thinking of attaching him to a TB and sending him out. Just don't have an idea for his goal yet,

Sorry to hear that your button order is taking a while. But at least it's not just mine! Good to hear that they usually move quickly. This is my first order with them, and I'm not too impressed with their service right now.

I also ordered a few buttons that are personalized. They said yes, they can put an adult female, male child, and our dog on. Will be interesting to see! Of course, my son is taller than me now!!! LOLOLOL!! I forgot to include our name for them and received an e-mail asking about it. I let them know what it is and asked if it's too long to fit on the button (without it looking strange.) Never heard a peep back from them, so I'm guessing they've been working on it. Hope they arrive soon!

I emailed Bumble Buttons earlier today about the delay in my order and I just heard back from Vicky. She was very apologetic and said my order will ship tomorrow. Her house was broken into and that has caused some problems for her and her family, as you can imagine! They are trying to get back up to speed but it is taking a while. She didn't mention if they lost anything or if their home was damaged. That can be an awful experience. So, be patient. I'm glad to hear you have given her some business. She has a nice assortment of buttons and they are very good quality. You'll enjoy them!
We have cachers around here who trade team buttons with each other. It's neat to see what other cachers use, especially the custom buttons like ours.

Wow! I'm sorry to hear about the break-in. Thanks for clueing me in. I hope things are back to normal soon for them.

It was still light out at 6:00 this evening!! Woooo hooooo!!!! Around 5:00 we went and got two caches that are pretty close to home. Love it when you can get a couple in one stop!

Thanks all for the well wishes. Things have gotten a tad more complicated here today. I am sched to have carpal and cubital tunnel surgery on Friday. Not that big a deal really, just won't be able to use my right arm for a while and out of work for two months (Only because I work at a mental hosp and the patients are too unpredictable). Well today I found out that next week I will also be having gallbladder surgery. I really thought that test was going to come back ok and that would be the end of it. So looks like tomorrow will have to be enough to last for a while longer.
I can't wait to hear how your buttons turn out. I was showing the options to the kids and I will let them pick out what ones we order.

lilallybean: Our thoughts and prayers go with you. I haven't had real surgery since I had my tonsils removed in 4th grade and that was many, many years ago. I can't wait 'til they can do surgery like on Star Trek: wave a wand over you and you're cured! I'm sure you'll do fine, lilallybean!

Well, we took a little trip to York, PA, on Friday and managed to sneak in a couple caches down there. We also nailed our first "traveling cache", "The Little Known Park Finder". This is a film canister that moves from park to park. We tried twice to get it before we finally managed to get to it first. We moved it to another park but we pretty much handed it off to another cacher who had arrived at the site of our find just as we were leaving. It has now been moved south and out of our county. Maybe it will come to a park near you guys someday!

We also managed to find a micro yesterday! We usually stink at them. We ended up third to find which is pretty good. It was a pretty clever hide but my DW spotted it right away.

Our buttons still haven't arrived but I'm expecting them very soon. Take care, everyone, and good caching!

Wow, Mike! No surgeries to speak of since 4th grade! You are blessed!!! Wishes for continued great health for you!!

Oooooooooooooooo...just heard that it's 34 degrees and going down to 29 tonight. Brrrrrrrrrrr! I'd rather have the 82 degree weather we had a week ago!! The poor flowers outside. They're probably confused.

Sounds like a neat cache, Mike. I haven't done any of the traveling ones yet. I pretty much know of them, but that's it. Why does an Oscar Mayer traveling hot dog vehicle come to mind? I guess it must be one.

Congrats on finding the micro and your wife's keen eye of the day! I find micros annoying at times. Especially when I can't find them and there are so many places they can be! Went and snatched a micro tonight. We've been to this place twice before and couldn't find it. Today I was "chatting" with the owner's son (who seems to be pretty tough with his cache placements!!) and he asked if I wanted a hint. DEFINITELY!!! Well, he told me right where it is. Good thing in this case. I had pretty much checked all around and across from where it was!!! Yikes! Sooooooooooooooooooo glad to have found this one and cross it off the list! One problem though when I spotted it...couldn't figure out how it opened! Kept trying...OOPS!!! It came off the bush!! Luckily, I was able to put it back the way I found it. Turned out you had to squeeze the top of the container for it to pop open. LOLOL! There I was trying to push it off with my thumb. I should know by now...just give them directly to my son, and he'll have it open in no time!

We headed to one of the area parks on Sunday afternoon. Found 5 which wasn't bad for starting around 1 p.m. and all the walking we did. Ugh! LOL! I really need to get that bike tire fixed!!!! It's bikes next time! On the way to one, we took a side route to get another. My GPS had it at 400 some odd feet away when there was a sign posted...STAY ON THE PATH. (Picture a path the width of a bicycle tire!!!) Entering Cottonmouth Habitat!!! AUGH!!! No, not us! At that point I turned around!!! I don't care if it IS winter and they're hibernating! I guess we'll have to skip that one.

I just remembered that I did have my wisdom teeth removed back in the 80's! I guess that counts as surgery.
I received an email from the USPS stating Bumblebuttons has contacted them about shipping my buttons. That was the 21st. They are to come via Priority Mail, 2 to 3 days, so maybe I'll be getting them soon. I guess Vicky has the business back up and running!
The only micro I can remember we had trouble opening was the pinecone we found a couple weeks ago. That was because it was so "delicate" looking and it screwed apart rather than pulled apart. We definitely did not want to break it.
Cottonmouth territory! I would skip that one, too, unless it was 10 degrees or something.

I hope your buttons arrive soon (if they haven't all ready.) I just e-mailed Vicky to see if she has a rough idea on when mine will go out.

We went out looking for a couple caches after work yesterday. It's still getting too dark too early. Decided against one because parking is nearly impossible. I guess you can park on the main road if you want to take the chance of a police car coming by. The guy that placed it IS a police officer! LOL! He says parking can be tricky. Ha ha! I guess so. It's in some trees near office buildings. But the parking lots for the buildings are gated off every night! Should be interesting.

We managed to do one micro today while running some errands. Now, it's raining so we probably won't be going out again. Maybe tomorrow.

Well we finally made it back out today - weather was about 55 and sunny so had to jump on it. Found 7/7 and they were all micros - DD14 loves micros and we are finding them alot more fun now too it seems. Three of the ones we found were from the same guy place in a 20 mile area from each other and this guy is an absolute genious. We had found one of his before and thought it was tiny - but he's got himself beat. We are talking 1/4" by 1/2" and hidden really well. One of them was in a cedar tree and the clue said it was magnetic - huh - yep, hanging on a piece of literally invisible fishing line threaded down through the branches of a cedar tree hangs a camo'd 1/2" washer and attached to it - a cam'd bolt that is covered with waterproof tape and a little teeny tiny log inside. With these you always have to have tweezers with you. I can't wait to see what this guy comes up with next. Well since I went caching today it's fishing for DH tomorrow so I guess I'll have to wait until next weekend to get back out. Thanks for your help guys on that other thread - Happy caching.

Great job with those micros! I doubt we would have found the tiny one as we usually stink at those types of hides. Well, maybe we're getting better, too, since our last two finds were clever micros. I'd like to see a photo of the tiny one! I have a tiny container but I have no idea how to get a log sheet small enough to put in it and still be useful.
Have fun fishing. We'll be visiting our granddaughter today and maybe cache a little after that if the weather holds out. According to the Weather Channel, we're actually supposed to hit the 60's around Thursday. That will definitely beat the windy 40's.

So glad to hear that you got your buttons, Mike! I had an e-mail back from Vicky the other day that said she expected to be caught up on orders this weekend.

Congrats on the finds, hdecker! There is no way I'd ever find that micro! Have to wonder how people spot them. We've found two bolts with logs here, but they've actually been set up like the rest around them. Can't imagine one in a tree.

Have fun visiting your granddaughter, Mike! I bet she's a doll. Looking for better weather here also with temps going into the 70s at the end of the week!!! However, that means the snakes will be back, right?

Oh, yesterday we got out late so just found 5 around here. Three are new ones. One was near a bunch of powerlines. Chose to walk along the powerline route as opposed to trudging through the woods. Are we still glowing from all the EMFs??

Another was rated a 4.5 difficulty, but darling son found it within 5 minutes. Here's me telling him...no, it's not going to be under that electrical cover...as we're in the woods. Ha! It sure was!! Not sure why it's a 4.5. I guess because you expect to be inspecting everything "woodsy." The original finders spent 45 minutes looking for it with hints from the owner looking on. LOL! Their logs are pretty funny if you want to take a look...

Another good one was Lil' Cache of Horrors. Strange looking area of the park. Guarding the cache was a toy snake. LOL! I was pulling that out with a stick and NOT putting my hand in the hole just in case. Luckily, the snake was tied to the cache and it came out with it! These people get too funny.

ClassicRider has a sense of humor as well as a knack for hiding caches! I wonder how many cachers will be shocked when a PO pulls up and questions them?! This is one of those that is so obvious it isn't obvious. The micro we found yesterday is like that. It's at the base of a power pole along a very busy street. It is camo'd as an official-looking city "whatever" with the city logo and everything. My DW wasn't fooled even though I tried to talk her out of it because it looked so official.
The VA Gators have amassed a nice number of cache finds! We're still below 250, as far as I know, but we don't get out real often. Once the weather gets nice, we'll probably be out more often, especially when it stops getting dark at 6:00 PM.
I posted some geocaching info today on the thread that popped up the other day by tammyandtommy. If you get a chance, check it out and let me know what you think. I hope it doesn't have any mistakes as I wouldn't want to mislead them.
