Anyone getting worried about March Break Travel

I needed toilet paper last week but our Costco was one of many running out so I took advantage of the 2 day shipping and got some along with a few other things....then apologized profusely to our UPS driver as I know they hate Costco deliveries (my husband is a UPSer) because Costco does NOT package the boxes properly :sad2:

As far as March break plans, we're still good to go to Hawaii on Saturday morning....I keep checking the seat map on my WJ app to see if anyone has cancelled to see if I can move up from row 20:rotfl2:

Very true. I did an order from them once and everything was smashed. A box of candy was actually duct taped up.

I can’t stop giggling at Costco carts being wiped down when brought inside .. unless it’s different elsewhere ppl bring them inside themselves so you’ve already touched it so ..

And yes I bought three bottles of dish soap and bleach at shoppers tonight because a wildlife sanctuary is presenting at my kids school and those are on their wish list. I made sure the cashier knew what it was for ..lol

As we are all healthy my concerns at this point with travel would be
1. Will medical travel insurance still cover me ? if god forbid
2. if the city I was visiting was shut down would I have the funding to stay there in isolation for 14 days?and to possibly be quarantined when I returned for yet another 14 days? ( I know a local care home has said if you go on vacation to a hot spot and need to quarantine upon arrival they will not be paid )

Prayers to everyone it’s a tough call right now I’m sure :(

Decided tonight to rebook our 3 day Disney cruise that was booked for March 20. Still going to go to Orlando. Was not too concerned about getting sick, but the quarantine and the new warning from the Federal govt about not covering the costs to get you home was the the deciding factor.
And that was the cruise i looked at for the tail end of our week. Prices dropped last week so thought about it. But the price wasnt low enough. If your still in Orlando swing by Disney. See if there is and cancellations to the new cirque show. Or just enjoy the Springs.

New Brunswick schools have just "banned" international travel as of today. Any student who personally, or had a family member, travel internationally (including to the US), is not allowed to attend school for 2 weeks. I imagine other provinces will follow suit soon.
I was wondering when this type of announcement would be made after hearing that some of the cases in Ontario are from people who were returning from the US.

Source? I see nothing via Google.
I'm assuming you're asking me for my sources regarding the Ontario residents returning from the states?

This comes from the Dr. Barbara Yaffe, the director of communicable disease control and associate medical officer of health for Toronto Public Health

Yaffe provided the following breakdown on travel history — including close contacts of people who travelled to the affected area — of the 34 cases in Ontario:

16 — Iran.
5 — Egypt.
4 — China (All resolved).
3 — United States.
2 — Italy.
1 — Germany.
1 — France.

2 — Grand Princess Cruise

I found the above chart on THIS PAGE

I Googled "New Brunswick school travel ban" and found only articles from a few days ago regarding potential cancellations of school trips.

So, depends what you use as your keywords. But thank you for the link.

He also confirmed tonight on Twitter that the ban does include the US.

Oh, good, more hysteria. Completely ridiculous. You can go to Toronto or Vancouver but if you cross a border watch out!

The reason is because most Canadians who are going to travel head south for spring break.
It is a complete overreaction and they have no ability to properly control what people do. I can go to the store or mall or local rink when I get back but no school? Or you know people will just lie. Dad/mom travels for work to make money for said family and the kids cant go to school. How about a daycare? This is all optics and not a real plan.

Daycare, preschool not allowed, either.

There‘s more Coronavirus in Ontario than Florida for heavens sake. Banning travel down south means nothing at this point. It’s hysteria plain and simple . They aren’t following government guidelines or Canadian health recommendations at this point . Just going rogue and spreading the panic. Disgusting.

Using kids to look good politically. Embarrassing.

Meanwhile, Saskatoon is not cancelling the Junos and there are 20,000 people at an Oiler game in Edmonton tonight.

A lot of this was prompted by school trips to Europe over March break. There was a huge public backlash that they were allowed to go, and that there weren't quarantine requirements being put in place.

Several of the most recent cases in Ontario are due to US travel.

You also have to understand that New Brunswick is in a serious health care crisis. Most folks elsewhere in Canada have no idea how bad it is here. We can barely handle our regular day to day stuff, let alone a Coronavirus outbreak. So... they're going to be aggressive in trying to prevent such a scenario.

Is it right or wrong? I don't know. I don't really care quite honestly. It is what it is.
