Anyone get Rachel Rays new magazine yet?

I used to dislike Rachael Ray...not sure why. But she's grown on me! I love $40 a day and her new show Tasty Travels. I really enjoy her 30 minute meals too! Her giggle annoys me, and then when she says EVOO, and then finds it necessary to define it EVERYTIME, annoys me to no end...lol...

but I do love Rachael Ray now! I want her knives!!! I keep going to Sur la Table (kitchen gadget store if you aren't familiar) and playing with the knives. But I keep talking myself right out of them...sigh...lol

I met her downtown a couple months ago...she's way thinner and dresses alot more chic in "real life". Very nice girl.

I didn't say they are all unhealthy. But chopping up hot dogs to mix in with your burgers and then topping them with bacon and cheese is a bit much.

Oh yeah - I agree with you there! I would NEVER serve that or eat that. I forgot about that one!

Yep. She has got to be the most annoying person on TV today

Actually she is not as annoying as Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee. SHE is the most annoying person on TV. pirate:

I admit Rachel Ray has been a little too over-exposed and the Food Network has given her way too many shows. (Give someone else a chance!) But I still love her. I have not heard about her new magazine, but I will definitely have to check it out.

Agreed. Not all the recipes are keepers. However, I think she presents realistic recipes for the average family. You don't have to have a culinary degree, you don't have to have a gourmet food market near you, an unlimited amount of time to devote to complex recipes, gadgets galore, and an unlimited source of money to buy loads of ingredients that you ordinarily wouldn't buy. Thats what I think her appeal is...normal, reasonable, relatively healthy recipes for the normal family.

I so agree with this! I was watching her Halloween special the other day...while I'll admit that she has pretty good ideas, she over uses the word Fantastic. That's got to be her favorite word! If I hear "fantastic" one more time...lol

But then again...Rachael Ray over-uses "yum-o" too...

And Emeril with his smell-o-vision...

I guess they all have their quirks! (and of course, I'll keep watching!) :)

I can't stand Sandra Lee, either.

Emeril also over uses the "rocket science" line. What about Martha's "a good thing?"

YES..I totally agree. That woman needs a sandwich and a slap.

Well I love Rachel Ray and Sandra Lee. I don't care much about their "odd" personalities quirks, we've all got them. How about you tape 100 episodes a year and see how often you repeat yourself.

Personally, I watch for the great recipes and no one can deny they don't have them! Some are more healthy, and some are obvious comfort foods. The hotdog-mac casserole...how is that any different than serving a loaded hot dog with a side of mac and cheese? :confused3 Certainly not something I'd serve everyday, but I guarantee that show was about having a fun meal (and satisfying kids), not cutting calories. Although I'd bet good money her mac 'n cheese is way more healthy than the box kind. ;)

Anyway, off my soapbox. I think both of them have great ideas and I've made several of their recipes. Always turn out great. And to the poster who wants that Santoku knife, it's worth EVERY penny! Sandy Claus bought mine at Williams-Sonoma for about $75. You'll never need another knife!

I'm going to look out for her magazine. Rachael Ray has really inspired me! Because of her I've gone from being a strictly takeout girl, to possibly thinking about cooking...one day :teeth:

Can I brag a little here??? Check out the photo!

I love Rachael Ray. I will definitely have to check out her mag...I had no idea she was getting one. I am so out of the loop.

Wonderful! Could you give us a bit more info like when that was and how you got so lucky???

I'm jealous! :goodvibes

OK....well after chucking out $40 for dinner, we decided to get some wine and a movie and just spend a quiet evening at home.... :scratchin ok...that's not what really happened, just some wishful thinking!

She made an appearance here at the Children's Museum of Atlanta last November in support of her Cooking Rocks! book for kids. I took my daughter there and we were treated to a brief cooking segment followed by a meet and greet autograph session. She is super cool and much prettier in person. She is also taller and thinner than I imagined her to be.

She was eating some of those peanut butter and cheese crackers (the kind you get out of a vending machine) and even offered some to my daughter when it was our turn to meet her (too bad she has a peanut allergy!) She took the time to make small talk with us and signed the book for my daughter, even putting her name in the nameplate on the inside. She was very perky and talkative & chatted it up with everyone she met. It was a great experience.

Here is a great shot of Rachael and my daughter:
