I didn't say they are all unhealthy. But chopping up hot dogs to mix in with your burgers and then topping them with bacon and cheese is a bit much.

I so agree with this! I was watching her Halloween special the other day...while I'll admit that she has pretty good ideas, she over uses the word Fantastic. That's got to be her favorite word! If I hear "fantastic" one more time...loljbdreamer said:Actually she is not as annoying as Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee. SHE is the most annoying person on TV.![]()

mickeysgal said:Agreed. Not all the recipes are keepers. However, I think she presents realistic recipes for the average family. You don't have to have a culinary degree, you don't have to have a gourmet food market near you, an unlimited amount of time to devote to complex recipes, gadgets galore, and an unlimited source of money to buy loads of ingredients that you ordinarily wouldn't buy. Thats what I think her appeal is...normal, reasonable, relatively healthy recipes for the normal family.

Certainly not something I'd serve everyday, but I guarantee that show was about having a fun meal (and satisfying kids), not cutting calories. Although I'd bet good money her mac 'n cheese is way more healthy than the box kind.

She made an appearance here at the Children's Museum of Atlanta last November in support of her Cooking Rocks! book for kids. I took my daughter there and we were treated to a brief cooking segment followed by a meet and greet autograph session. She is super cool and much prettier in person. She is also taller and thinner than I imagined her to be.
She was eating some of those peanut butter and cheese crackers (the kind you get out of a vending machine) and even offered some to my daughter when it was our turn to meet her (too bad she has a peanut allergy!) She took the time to make small talk with us and signed the book for my daughter, even putting her name in the nameplate on the inside. She was very perky and talkative & chatted it up with everyone she met. It was a great experience.
Here is a great shot of Rachael and my daughter:
