I am wondering if there are ways to get out of it. I am hesitant I make my ADR because of it and my trip is in 2 weeks. Oh well

Don't think so. One lady posted where she had to take her husband to emergency care. The resort arranged it, so Disney knew it was true. They still wouldn't waive the cc fee for their ADR that night.

I lucked out for our upcoming Feb 4th-11th trip and made all my ADRs prior to the policy change. For my upcoming May trip, I just made a point of making all my ADRs for restaruants that don't require a cc guarantee. It's only the character meals, Signature restaurants, Fantasmic pkgs, and dinner shows that require the cc guarantee. There's still alot of restaurants that don't.

'Ohana also required a cc hold. Raglan Road also required one but that was because of our party size (13).

Seems like they should let someone out with a doctor's note. Poor lady!

I'm glad they set the new system up because it was a lot easier to make my ADRs. But man.....with 5 people, that's like $50 if we don't make it on time. Ouch!

By most reports, they won't accept any excuses for late cancellation. Not even medical or travel delays. Still waiting for more stories of firsthand experiences. In December there were a few accounts of guests going donw as no-shows when they arrived late for the meal; to get their money refunded they had to provide proof that they actually ordered the meal (a receipt).

Moving this to the Reservations board. There is a sticky on that board with the full policy and what we can determine so far about it. Read it before you make ANY reservation that requires a credit card hold.

Why are you hesitant? Is it because its a travel day, you might just decide to change your mind a the very last minute or you just worry a lot.

For the first two don't make the ADR, for the last one that's for you to decide.

You could always choose to book reservations at restaurants that don't require a CC hold. Then if you have to cancel on short notice there won't be a charge...
