Anyone get a stimulus check already? Curious.

Did she use a place like H&R Block for taxes? I’ve been reading on another site that if you do the advance refund products it causes it to look like that but that the tax preparation company does get it routed on to the taxpayer.
That’s exactly what happened. I tried to explain it to her but she was sure someone hacked into her account. She listens to people she works with and always expects the worst. Her money was deposited today.

in the past she has paid a crazy amount to have her taxes done because she doesn’t have the money to pay up front. They take a percent of your refund. This year she will be going to the lady who does ours and will probably pay about $100 as opposed to $400 to hr block.

Ours showed up yesterday (though I didn't look for it until today).

Just checked and mine is the same. Of course, we moved last year so I don't even know if they have our current address on file and the amount of time for our mail forwarding has already ended.
You can do another mail forwarding request (same process as the first). Might be a good thing to put in place if you're not 100% sure on which address is on file because you know getting a replacement check is going to be a nightmare.

Good on both counts- getting the money and changing preparers. I work in a law office that also does taxes. Sometimes divorce clients bring in their copies of H&R Block (or similar prep) returns and we cannot believe what they pay for preparation. The advance refunds are a racket too.

Welp, the IRS tool says it was scheduled to be deposited into the checking account the first one went in but we closed that back in September so it's going b to be awhile. I assume we will get it with our tax return.

This happened to us with the last one. They tried to direct deposit to a closed account. They mailed us a check a few weeks later.

We tried not to pry into her business but she bought a house this year. Single mom of a 6 year old. My husband mentioned making sure she takes all the docs from the purchase of the house to have her taxes prepared. We had no idea the arrangement she was using with H&R Block. We told her she could go to our person who is very reasonable, and very diligent and we would pay for it if needed. I know it's not a scam and it's perfectly legal but charging so much for a simple return is just nuts.

I'm shocked at what people pay to H&R Block and then they only pay their tax preparers like $12/hr. I use a private tax lady and she only charges me $140 and our taxes are pretty complicated because I have a small business that isn't an LLC, so the taxes for it are just part of our regular income taxes.

Im waiting for snail mail--- just like the 1st time--- the sad thing is that I get my SSDI direct deposited for years already !! I called the IRS a month ago just to try to verify that they DID have my banking info on file-- they did--- and STILL getting paper check..
:((

My lady charges about that much too. I used to have a rental house. That was why I started having someone fo mine. This lady is a cousin of my BIL and lots of people around here go to her. She charges a flat amount then adds a little for additional forms. I have a pension income form now, no more rental property, so it’s stayed about the same. Was $120 but I think it’s now $150. I find it to be totally worth it.
My good friend is retired and now does taxes for H&R Block. She said they would charge me $500 for what I have to fill out.

Just noticed it was deposited on Monday. Transferred it right to my savings account.

So I apparently fell into the Turbo Tax issue where the IRS sent my payment to the Turbo Tax temporary account and the money got kicked back to IRS. Have to wait until the 15th to see if I get a paper check, otherwise have to claim in on my 2020 taxes that I didn’t receive and get it as a refund that way. Wonderful.

Same here

I’ve got king cake on order, Mardi Gras decorations from Etsy on the way and an order placed with the liquor store down the road.

Does that count? ;)
Eating king cake as I read this! And I ordered stuff off Etsy yesterday too!

We heard one guest on CNBC mention a possibility of $2,000 every three months this morning. Not sure who that guest was.
