Anyone get a stimulus check already? Curious.

Not exactly waiting on pins and needles because I will barely get anything, but the news keeps saying the IRS has deposited in people's bank accounts already, but I haven't heard of anyone who got one.
Not debating merits of check, just wondering if anyone actually got any money!

I think I may have. My checking account is inexplicably up but there is no record of a deposit. I will check again after 8am and see if something shows. It’s the right amount for it to be that.

Yes I got mine this morning. So did my SO. We bank with USAA and they don’t hold any pending deposits. They release it once they receive it. I believe the actual date of deposit is January 4.

ETA: I read on another site many people who use those cards for their tax refunds were getting their money yesterday.

i didn’t look at the numbers, but I know DH and I won’t qualify. i think one of our kids might.

I know people are struggling, but I worry about what we are doing to future generations with the staggering debt we keep adding to.

It’s a drop in the bucket compared to other spending. I’ll leave it at that.

Here in Canada all the Covid-relief benefits and extended Covid-related unemployment payments are taxable income but had no source deductions taken. Assuming most recipients were in fairly dire straits and didn’t have the foresight to save part of it, there will be literally millions of people in trouble with the tax man come April.
