Anyone get a "receipt" for their cruise recently?

So my cruise has been PIF for a while (two staterooms, so therefore two reservations): I got a receipt on Saturday saying thank you for booking our cruise (for March 2021). I thought it was weird, so I looked at the entire email and it looks like the receipt has added verbiage to cover COVID.

Now I am curious, if anyone else has received one? Hoping this wording is a sign that we will sail.

I did too last week for our cruise in March. I am taking it as a sign. Also, the Pfizer vaccine is 90% effective and could be out at the end of the month! Time to set sail!

Pfizer's trial is still ongoing; it's not ready to be released. They have to get more people in the study come down with COVID; of the first 94 cases, 90% of the cases came from the placebo group.

Also, deployment of the vaccine is going to be slow. They expect to have 50 million doses available by year-end world-wide, and 1.3 billion available in 2021. Since everyone will need 2 doses, Pfizer will be able to immunize 650 million people worldwide by the end of 2021. There are 300+ million people in the U.S. alone. It's been estimated that it may be next summer before any vaccine will be available to the general public, after an initial focus on people most at risk.

To add what Husker Mike posted above, Pfizer hasn't yet applied for what's known as an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). They have said they are planning to apply for one in the 3rd week of November, but it'll depend on things like if they get enough infected people to look at. What we saw last week in the headlines is Pfizer's "first look" at the vaccine data. Basically, those involved in the experiment don't start analyzing data and such until the group reached a certain number of infections. Normally drug companies don't put first look info out publicly, but since there's so much interest in the vaccine and because Pfizer wants to be as transparent as possible, they released it.

If Pfizer does apply for the EUA, the FDA will need to approve it. I don't know how long that'll take- hopefully by the end of the year. Those getting vaccines under the EUA will probably be more experiment volunteers and extremely high-risk people like front-line medical staff. Once Pfizer gets a full authorization, then they can distribute to the public- a process that will take several months if everything goes well. Pfizer thinks they'll get there in Q3 2021, and I wouldn't hope for sooner then that.

The good news is that 10 other vaccines are in Phase 3 as well- hopefully some of those also work well and can get approval in the next few months.

What was the verbiage in relation to Covid, if you don’t mind?

Not to get too far off track in this thread, but Pfizer isn't the only game in town. Other vaccine makers are also in Phase 3 and I expect by the end of the year we should have a lot more news from a lot more vaccine candidates. Fauci is confident that anyone who wants a vaccine should be able to get one by April.

9. COVID-19 AND OTHER COMMUNICABLE DISEASES: You agree, understand, and acknowledge, that an inherent risk of exposure to the disease COVID-19 (as defined by the World Health Organization and any strains, variants, or mutations thereof) and SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that can cause COVID-19) (collectively, “COVID-19”), and any other communicable or infectious disease, exists in any public place where people are present, including a cruise ship. “Communicable disease” means any disease or illness caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi that can be spread, directly or indirectly, from one person to another. “Infectious disease” means any disease or illness caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungi that enter the body, multiply, and can cause an infection. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious communicable disease that can lead to severe illness and death. No precautions can eliminate the risk of exposure to COVID-19, and the risk of exposure applies to everyone. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), older adults (people 65 years and older) and people of any age who have underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness and death from COVID-19. You acknowledge that the risk of exposure to COVID-19 and any other communicable or infectious disease includes the risk that you will expose others that you later encounter, even if you are not experiencing or displaying any symptoms of illness. You acknowledge and agree to voluntarily assume any and all risks in any way related to exposure to COVID-19 and any other communicable or infectious disease, including illness, injury, or death of yourself or others, and including without limitation, all risks based on the sole, joint, active or passive negligence of any Disney Cruise Line or any of its employees. You acknowledge that your embarkation and participation in a cruise is entirely voluntary.

Wow! Pretty thorough and putting it all out there!

Dont buy it. Can't even just get a Covid test or antibody test if you just want one at this point in my area.

He would know I just don't trust it.

I wonder if that is because of the spikes or just variable by state... I just got one on the first since a positive person came through my office on a day I was there. Once I'd decided to get it for peace of mind I scheduled it online for 20 minutes later and then ran down to the clinic. They had times all day still wide open.

If you want a free antibodies test now you could go to Red Cross and they will give you the test if you give plasma and possibly if you give blood.

As to where to get the Covid tests we may have to wait until January. But I’m sure things are in the works. Healthcare is political now so your limitations should end soon.

OH MY GOSH - That is a hard pass. I just PIF for my March Cruise (I had FCC so no real risk) but that indemnity is a deal breaker. It's saying you assume risks associated with THEIR NEGLIGANCE.

They definitely do it for blood donations also. I donate once a year or so (and am hounded the rest of the year) and they are still advertising that.

I’ve wanted to give blood but they are having me wait because of my cancer. Soon though 5 more months and I can again. So I’m out of the loop.

I hope everything continues to go well for you and you can have a celebratory trip sooner rather than later..!!
