Anyone get a GTY assignment for May yet??

Okay, I don't have a clue, what is GTY? We booked our first cruise ever for Feb 2012...I guess I have a lot to learn. Please explain.

I'll try and explain. Sometimes when you book a cruise, there are only guarantee cabins available(GTY) and you can book that if you want. You do not get a cabin assignment until closer to your actual cruise. But you are guaranteed a cabin in the category in which you book. For example, if you book an outside guarantee you are guaranteed an outside cabin but it could be any type of outside.If you got assigned a cabin or choose a cabin on booking, then you need not worry about GTY's. Sometimes you can just book a guarantee category even though there are cabins still showing available,(Guarantee with Restrictions) and it is usually less money to do that BUT you have to pay in full at time of booking and no changes are possible.. That is what I did, so I am waiting on pins and needles to find out what cabin I got. Hope I explained it right. pj

Yes, I got my stateroom assignment yesterday. I was GTY 9D and was bumped up to 9B. The best part is that our staterooms are beside each other! (it was a request) We had originally booked connecting inside staterooms, but changed to a military rate GTY. Cheaper rooms with a window, well worth the loss of connecting doors!

Just got my assignment for the May 22 Dream sailing. No pixie dust (GTY 5D, got 6148 which is a 5D) but I'm very happy with the location! Just down one floor from the kids clubs for my boys, but room reports from that area say it's very quiet

Lucky you we've ended up with a cabin on level 5 that is above the night club and apparently it is very noisy here until 2am!
The only good thing is that we are near the kids clubs!

I think you do tend to feel more motion when your cabin in aft. We're above the disco so hopefully this doesn't become an issue. I'm going to make sure to pack my earplugs.

You are so lucky my room report says that ours is very noisy! as we are below evolutions club and it is very loud until 2am! we are 5672 same cruise as you !

I think you'll be fine with the aft location..Can't really say about the disco but aft will be OK..pj

Just checked our reservation...finally got our assignment - #6686. This is a HCA room alllllllll the way in the back of the ship!!! Seems like it has two smaller portholes, and it looks like it may be a little more spacious.

We booked a 9a, and got a 9a.

May 14th Transatlantic: we booked a 9D GTY on 4/7. We were assigned 9C ~3 days later & then 1 day later changed to 5C. No connecting cabins but can't complain since we are thrilled to be on the ship & on the same deck with 2 verandahs

Bumping this for people who booked an IGT/OGT/VGT for May - booked IGT on Friday for May 17th Alaska -checking every couple hours because I am impatient like that. LOL

We are on the Magic's May 28th cruise and haven't received our room assignments, either. I have checked in online, so just waiting.
