Anyone get a GTY assignment for May yet??

I am waiting for the May 28 too. We have a VGT.. When I booked I didn't realize that IGT,OGT and VGT were new categories of GTY.. Hopefully it'll be soon as they should have to send the documents out really soon now. I keep checking endlessly...pj

Sorry to see that you are still waiting. I don't know if this will fuel your worry but I got my cruise documents yesterday for the May 28th sailing. We are still over 30 days out, I wouldn't worry too much but I would be calling on day 29. Good Luck!

I booked just this past Friday on an IGT - so that is why I am waiting

Some of you got your May 28th assignment and even got your documents... It is almost at the 30 day mark and I have neither.. DCL says it will be sending the documents without a cabin assignment... Now I am really anxious! pj

We're booked on the May 28th Med cruise with a verandah GTY (VGT GTY), still waiting for an assignment. It seems that VGT GTYs are sold out now (or at least not bookable via DCL website), and no Navigator verandahs are available either. Don't know whether this means we're any closer to getting an assignment though. I keep impulsively checking several times a day, but I get the feeling we may have to wait until the last minute. Still, just delighted to be booked, we got a great deal on the VGT GTY and I'm sure we'll be happy whatever our assignment

Me too! There are a lot of 11B left on our cruise, and also a ton of outsides, and quite a few verandah - so I am hoping for an upgrade, but I am seriously fine with a deck 6 11B. I would rather a 11B on deck 6, then a 10C on deck 1 or 2!

I've been following your story, hoping that you'd get your cabin number before you board, but it looks like you might be kept in the dark until the very last minute. Maybe they've got A LOT of pixie dust for you and they want to see your face when they tell you!

I hope that's the case, anyways. Good luck to you and do tell us what you got whenever they let you know!

One other question... how do you know HOW MANY of a type there is left on a particular cruise?! I've seen people say, "there's only one left" or "there's a lot of such-and-such unit type" and I don't understand how they know that!

Just go through as if you are going to make a new reservation and see what is available. Of course its not the 'inside' view of what is REALLY available, but gives you an idea.

there is alot of info behind the scenes of pulling up a new reservation & looking at cabin availability. We were looking for a cruise once & booked in the suite category. Prior to confirming which cabin we wanted-- online there was cabin assignments available in Inside, OV verandah & suites. Once we picked our cabin in the suite category the entire ship went to sold out. Yes there wer cabins to choose from ~6 in OV, ~8-10 in verandah & in our suite category we had our choice of 3 different cabins. BUT once we took a cabin-- all of the other cabins were not availble for new bookings since the ship was soldout due to guarantee status bookings needing assignments. Sometimes looking at a category with 12 cabins to choose from might mean 12 available or could mean 1 available-- it depends on how many guarantees they have pending that need assignments.

If you start to make a "fake" booking, once you've selected a room category (and hit continue), look to the left of the screen and you'll have a series of options for customization. At the top will be "Staterooms". Make sure you've selected a specific stateroom category (i.e. 11B, 5A etc. not IGT, VGT etc.), and then you have the option to customize your choice and you are offered a selection of available staterooms in that category (it says "stateroom number - not selected" and a clickable option "select" next to it).

Oh I did get my assignment finally - yesterday I got a deck 6 11A for my IGT GTY - I am happy with it. I thought they might stick us down in an 11C - so I am glad we are up on deck 6. I don't mind cat 11 - I actually prefer that bath over a split bath for an inside cabin. No major pixie dust, but not unhappy either!

I know the feeling..I just want to be able to look on the deck plan and see where my cabin is.. The suspense is getting the better of me.... We took a VGT also.pj
