Anyone Game? 2 Castles and a Road Trip TR! Last Day and TR Wrap Up! #2796; 10/01

How sad the guys felt ill :( I hope the day was salvageable.

EE does that to me too, I usually skip it.

Absolutely love that first shot!!!

Great series of pics! Now I am anxiously awaiting the verdict: continue in park or return to room?

We love EE quite often ride it twice :-) sorry DH got sick :-( cherry danish yum! Not tried that must add that to my sugar suicide next time. I loved the cinnamon swirl. I love cherry so thinking that me and cherry danish could be friends!

Looks like a nice day so far. Love AK such a nice park. Always a pleasure :-)

Well.....let me know if you need any help on researching Australia. The ANZACs on the DisBoard are always happy to help you spend your money so you can always go there and get input from a few of us (rather than just me).

I hope you take another look at the work exchange program. That would be an awesome way to see this part of the world.

Thank you so much, I definitely will :)

I think the exchange program would be perfect. I'm so glad you posted your birthday present because I completely forgot about that possibility.

I really like your first picture of your update post of EE with the brightness. I can never get tired of riding EE at AK. That was neat that you were able to ride it multiple times that day.

Sorry to hear that DH and DS weren't feeling well that day at AK.

I knew that you and your family were going to ride Kali River Rapids at AK during the trip. You already knew that I would not even consider going on that ride while you can easily get more wet than at DCA Grizzly River Run. I was surprised that you didn't use your camera wet bag when you were riding Kali.

Great updates.

Your Expedition Everest photos are spectacular. What a shame that both guys felt ill.

Too Queasy to Eat

DS and I were starving. We hadn't yet had breakfast this morning. I figured Kusafiri Coffee Shop and Bakery might be the place for us this morning.

DH did check out the menu and firmly declared that his stomach wasn't feeling up to food. Poor DH. He was not having a good morning so far. We found him a spot to sit in the shade.

DH did pick up a little whilst we were having breakfast. I think this was the first meal he'd skipped completely on this trip to date. He must have been feeling pretty bad.

Going backwards in Everest did my DH in too - first experience he has had being unable to ride a coaster..since then it seems to have got a bit worse though. He took a while to recover as well but we were able to walk slowly after a sit-down to the theatre to watch the FOLK an by after that he was OK for a light lunch. I am dosing him up big time before FJ at US later this year unless he decides its not worth risking it.

On a separate point Zanzibar love the pic of the hippo and bubs. I must look up your TR and get some intel from you when we are ready to do an African trip (on the to do list).

It's on the HKDL Honeymoon TR :thumbsup2 It was actually before I really got into planning trips myself, so we really just let the TA book what she thought was best. It worked out pretty well though. Both accommodations were great, and it was good having the two locations so close to each other so we didn't have to worry about extra flights within Africa. I really enjoyed Chobe, but it wasn't the quintessential African safari, it was kind of bushy, and we didn't see a huge variety of animals or any really large herds. Next time I'd like to do one in more of an African plains type of environment (like in the Lion King :thumbsup2). I would definitely recommend Vic Falls. We had an absolute blast there and as well as the waterfalls themselves, there are plenty of animals around too. We saw hippos, elephants, giraffes, antelope, buffalo, warthogs, a mongoose and various birds including vultures.

Sorry to invade your TR PIO

:rofl2:

LUV IT!

And great shots! That first one is killer! BAMM!

:)

Jud

Thanks. I like that first shot too. ;)

3 runs on EE will do that to you: throw in an empty stomach... well, girl, you shoulda known better! Hehehehee...

:)

Jud

We've always done EE on an empty stomach in the past. Who knew that DH would not be able to cope? :confused3

There's a reason one starts with the Safari... hehehehee...

Both posts very nice ride "essays"!

:)

Jud

Thanks.

Oh your poor guys :sad2: There's nothing worse than feeling sick when you're on holiday!

Hope they managed to perk up.

Me too. ;)

No need to apologise. The issue is with my iPad - it's being a real pain at present.

I never did get to try Kali River Rapids unfortunately. It was temporarily shut down the first time we tried and had a massive queue the second time. It will have to be one I save for next time.

I think EE was probably our overall family favourite since it features in all of our top 3. Such a fun ride - your pics of it are great.

Sorry to hear your family were unwell. I hope they perked up quickly.

We always try and hit EE and Kali as many times as possible. The last time, we hit Kali on a pm EMH and stayed on it 3 times in a row. We were absolutely soaked when we finished. :rotfl:

I think this was the first time EE got to DH.

DS was just hot and thinking about SAB!

You'll have to wait and see. popcorn::

I think AK is a little underrated. It's going to be interesting to see how Avatarland pans out and what the views are after. I hope it will meet the anticipation and hype.

Thank you so much, I definitely will :)

DS was just feeling hot.

I normally attract water. Kali and me have a track record of me getting soaked. It was just as well that I kept the camera in the bag and the bag in that holding area in the centre. I got rather wet and that wall of water that comes up at the end hit DS and me. If I had my camera, it would have been soaked. Sometimes, its better to play it safe. :goodvibes

Thanks Corinna. I was pretty pleased with the EE shots.

There's something remarkably familiar about what you wrote. :rolleyes1

FJ is an amazing ride and I suspect that Gringotts will be even better. I hope that your DH gets through it all.

No worries. :thumbsup2

Bummer that both DH and DS got sick on this day! I can relate though as I sometimes get a little motion sickness. I've found that taking Bonine helps some but there are some limits. If I rode EE three times in a row I wouldn't be happy either!

So dramatic a black & white shot ! Ah the boys poor guys, happens to all of us though eventually Kali I have NEVER been on it Always say we will and then waffle back and forth about when is the best time to get wet I don't look forward to walking around wet at anytime of a park day..someday we'll bite the bullet

Another time where I read and forgot to post! :headache:

That first picture was so beautiful! You got some really great shots in the queue of Everest and on the ride. It's too bad your DH got queasy that morning. I hope it didn't ruin your park morning. Your DS must have been in heaven getting soaked.

Looking forward to hearing how the rest of your day pans out.

Playing catch up again!

Love the shots (as usual!) Sorry that DH and DS got sick. :( Hopefully they bounced back quickly.

I'm thinking September or October of 2015 for my trip down under. That will give me plenty of time to save up. I'll probably get much more serious about planning after my cruise in September.

Jill in CO

Oh no! Sorry about DH and DS not feeling well. I understand about the backwards part on EE. A big head change for me and it takes a bit to bounce back from and it usually doesn't lurk at all...seems to have done that for your boys.

Hopefully they're able to bounce back!

We're not quite sure why DH felt the way he did. It's not a ride that he's been motion sick on in the past. Oh well. We'll have to see how he goes next time and if he decides to get on or not.
I might have some Bonine or Dramamine on hand.

I like Kali; but I know it's not for everyone. I hope you get on it someday. :goodvibes

Yes, DS was in heaven getting soaked. I think the heat and humidity got to him in the morning. With the wet clothes, I felt like I was steaming!

That backwards part on EE caught me a little off-guard as well the first time round. I had *almost* forgotten how weird it makes you feel. :upsidedow

Nice EE shots. I'd never be brave enough to take my camera out. Plus my eyes are closed during half of the ride. LOL!

Echoing everyone else. You have a few real gems in those EE photos, especially the first one! :worship:

EE goes a bit faster and steeper than BTMRR; but I put the strap round my neck and wrapped more of the strap round my hand just in case. It was fine in the end. :rotfl:

Thanks Bob. Really appreciate the feedback.

The Boring Stuff is the Stuff I Remember the Most

It was touch and go with my boys. With one feeling queasy and the other feeling incredibly hot, I wasn't sure how long the AK day was going to last. I think I was more like Daisy Duck today. All ready to go, go, go.

My boys? I think they just wanted to lie down in the shade with the Gone Fishin' sign over their heads.

I know when I'm swimming against the current.

I figured another ride was out of the question so I talked them into staying for air-conditioning. But we still had time to kill before we could enjoy that AC and we wandered around AK for a little bit.

It really is the Boring Stuff that I remember the most.

As we were wandering around AK, we came across a Meet and Greet and the characters were just setting up. We jumped in line quick enough and pretty soon, it was our turn.

From the Photopass collection. Some of these show what a fun interaction it was.

Both Dug and Russell were so obliging with DS. He perked up here and was happy to stay for a bit longer.

The official PP shot. Even DH had a smile on his face by this stage.
