Have a great trip PIO!

That was a fun M&G with Russell and Dug. You got some awesome pictures of the FOTLK! I'm glad we got to see it in that theater before it moved. Such a fun show and the AC is definitely a bonus!

And this time I understood the Photobabble!!!! :cool1:  Yay! For finally getting back into taking photos for real! I guess my life is settling down. See you when you come back! :wave2:

I'm glad I got to see it before it moved as well. It will be a new experience should I be lucky enough to head back.

YAY for understanding the photobabble. :thumbsup2

:scratchin My trip was to Sydney. I'm considering writing a TR but it really isn't Disney related or anything.

Bon voyage! Have a great mini-trip!

Jill in CO

Thanks Jill. I'm going to consider it a reconnaissance mission and research for when you come to Australia. ;)

Nice to hear from you PiO and I will be looking forward to your pictures from your trip.

Finally all caught up again... Let's see if I can stay on top of this..

DisMeet #13 – Lovely group Picture!
The cruise looks like so much fun and that all of you were there is even better… Jealous
The pictures of the parade and the fireworks are lovely, we have never done a cruise before, do you think it is worth it?

Animal Kingdom –
The tree of life, is always our first stop, the family photos are perfect… :0 even if they was a little cheeky going on..

That Birthday/Staycation was amazing, your facilities and the animals and not cooking, all sound like heaven to me. I could have done without the Boa…

Conquering Everest –
That Photo is my favorite…
Sorry the boys were not feeling well, empty stomach might have been the culprit
Lion King is the best A/C in AK…. I love it, the best I ever say was on Broadway!

Thanks Bret. Great to be home.
I need to catch up on your TR. I thought I caught up on my subscribed threads last night. I realised that there were some that weren't on the list; and yours was one of those. I'll need to spend some time today to check all my subs and make sure I'm up to date with them all.

Welcome back!

I thought the cruise was worth it as a special experience. It can be a little on the pricey side but split 10 ways, it wasn't too bad. I have to say that I enjoyed the Wishes cruise more than Illuminations (we did that one in 2010 with family). I know it is a personal opinion thing as many other Dis-sers seem to prefer the Illuminations cruise over Wishes.

Thanks.

The Delicious Stuff is the Stuff I Remember the Most

What does McCormick and Schmicks, The Crab House, The Rainforest Café, Morton's, T-Rex, Bubba Gump and Yak and Yeti have in common?

All of them are part of the stables of that mega-food, entertainment and gaming company, Landry's Inc. Irrespective of how you feel about corporates....you gotta admit....Landry's has built an impressive portfolio of restaurants that caters to the casual dining segment.

Today, I was only concerned with the one-of-the-kind Yak and Yeti restaurant in that Landry's stable. I had a noon-time ADR for today. Aside from wanting to make it to FotLK, I really wanted to make the ADR and have lunch here. It was just as well that both boys had perked up enough to stay at AK. I really hate eating alone. For the record, I might hate eating alone but I will if I have to.

There were a few people trying to check it at the same time as us. Some of them were being turned away because they didn't have a booking. I guess I could have picked up some strange family to eat with me if the boys had ditched me for SAB.

With an ADR in hand, it didn't take very long for us to be shown to our table.

I didn't make any special requests for my table; I was quite prepared to take pot-luck.

Pot luck was running my way today. I was absolutely delighted when the hostess walked this way!

Lots of full tables....

....so we kept heading away from the central staircase.

From air-conditioned Lion King to air-conditioned Yak and Yeti. It was just as well that we were indulging in activities that required us to sit. DH still wasn't 100% yet.

The caring spouse that I am....I was more concerned with my view.

....and checking out the menu.

DH decided he needed a hot tea to drink.

As the day was in the high 80's, I think my mango concoction was more appropriate.

For lunch, DS went with the sweet and sour chicken. Surprisingly good.

DH went with the Ahi Tuna salad.

Even though there was lots of green stuff, at least he was getting some protein to eat as well.

I went with the crispy Mahi Mahi.

All the meals were delicious!

I've always loved Yak and Yeti. Their Pan Asian cuisine is right up my alley and the chefs do a great job with the food. It's the delicious stuff that I will remember the most about this trip.

We did look at the dessert menu but there was nothing there that tempted me. Sad, but true.

In Search of Shere Khan

After a morning of sitting in air-conditioning, the boys were feeling a lot better. And after all that food, it was time for us to go for a walk. We were right there. Of course we were going in.

I was promised animals on this walk. I don't think this was what I had in mind. Come to think of it....it no longer had a mind.

Nice water feature. There was supposed to be Tapir around here. We didn't see it out at all.

The Komodo Dragon was hiding; but at least we could spot him.

No golden goose here.

We also saw the Saurus Cranes. This bird is easily mistaken for the Australian Brolga; which I posted a picture of in the Slumber Safari set. That red you can see is actually bare skin and it's a much deeper, brighter red during breeding season.

I think these are the Rodrigues Flying Foxes or Fruit Bats. To keep cool, they fan their wings apart.

To keep warm, they wrap their wings around their body and tuck in their head.

Nice as these animals were, there really was one reason I was in here.

I had come in search of Shere Khan.

Tiger, tiger burning bright. In the forests of the night.

What immortal hand or eye could frame thy fearful symmetry?

I did say it was a hot day. Shere Khan thought so as well.

That is a great mural of the tiger, isn't it?

It's a circuitous walk around this Maharajah Trail.

So we kept going.

The Tibetan Prayer Flags. Traditionally, prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. The Tibetans believe the prayers and mantras will be blown by the wind to spread the good will and compassion. As wind passes over the surface of the flags, which are sensitive to the slightest movement of the wind, the air is purified and sanctified by the mantras.

With another turn, we were in the bird aviary section.

We found the Nicobar Pigeon nesting.

Finches.

Ground Pheasant.

I also chased the Lady Amherst Pheasant for a while. Never got a decent shot of it! Next time!

I'd been keeping an eye on the time whilst we were rambling about the Maharajah trek. And towards the end, I hustled the boys out of the Aviary. I definitely did have another experience in mind to go-seek.

Nice trek and use of time, I think I know where you are going with this... :rolleyes!

Cats might not do water; but apparently tigers do. ::yes::

FWIW, our cat DOES do water.

And it wasn't even hot this day, it was in the middle of winter :rotfl:

I've never seen photos of the inside of Yak & Yeti before. It actually really reminds me of a Nepalese restaurant we used to visit! The food on the other hand, doesn't really... Looks yummy though.

I love how AK is like a theme park in a zoo :goodvibes Great photos of the animals. I'm pretty sure I'll find it a tough choice between that and MK as my favourite park when I finally get to WDW.

Yak and Yeti looks like a fabulous restaurant. I loved your view and the food looked great to. I have only ever tried their quick service location.

I love the tiger photos. I am glad that the guys felt up to going for a walk.

Corinna

We love Yak and Yeti as well. The fried wonton dessert is to die for! You can use Landry gift cards to pay there. Cute pics of the tiger!

What a great update!

Y & Y is scrumptious, I second the fried Wonton dessert popcorn::

You got some fabulous animal shots! Too cool about the tiger in the water. I take it you're a Mentalist fan?

I could watch the bats for ages, I think they're so cute.

The Yak and Yeti restaurant looks very nice as well as the food. Unfortunately, not too many of my party members like AK and they might reconsider it one day by trying the restaurants.

Your animal pictures look very nice.
