Great update and how great was that you got to meet a few DISers that day.

The "Move It, Shake It, Celebrate It" pictures look very nice but I don't know why I am not a huge fan of that parade. Maybe it was due to the fact at DL that it had a similar parade called "Celebrate! A Street Party" which DL didn't call it a parade more like a street event where it stopped at DL at specific areas on the parade route and it gets involved with the guests.

How nice that you went back to the park in the afternoon. I like the family photo. Those clouds look nasty. I am glad that the weather held off for you. That DIS Meet sounded great and well done for pulling off the surprise.

I'm usually not a big parade kind of person so I often end up skipping the parades. Perhaps I should try and watch a few more.

We generally like CHH for a CS at MK. It's a nice variety of choices. I love it that you were able to stall everyone so that Ed could make his grand entrance! What a great DISmeet!

And to play the "where were the other DISers?" game. Paula, Jo and I had just wrapped up our little meet at the Lobby of the VWL and Fran and I had picked up our rental car so that we could have another DISmeet the next day. We were getting all gussied up to gorge ourselves at V&A's!

Such a shame that we couldn't coordinate a meeting with the Dissers I was with and the Dissers you were with.

I actually ended up seeing more parades on this trip than I normally do. Parade time normally equals shorter queues on the big rides to me. When I got home and looked back at the pictures, I was really surprised at what I did catch....particularly at MK.

Yes. Let's keep playing "Where were the other Dis'ers" game.
I remember seeing your pictures at V&A. I know you definitely had the better gastronomic experience on this night.

Wanderlust - I have a few more DisMeets to write up about on this trip. We had quite a few Dissers heading to the World and the DisMeets just happened. We just found that there were things we wanted to do in common and worked our plans around these.

Yup. I think those Fish and Chips were dry as well. But I didn't eat it. And DS didn't complain.

What perfect memories of that day! I will say again how grateful I am to my family for sending me on this trip! With the years' financial difficulties, I'd managed to save enough but not enough for both DH and I to go. I just didn't have the heart to ask him if he'd "please stay home so I could PLAY with my friends"! I wasn't "envious" of all of you...I was DOWN RIGHT JEALOUS! I STILL thank DH and my girls for gifting me with such a perfect trip! AND...now I know how you managed to pull off the "Ed surprise"! That was so special of him, making the 2 1/2 hour trip to Orlando just to meet with all of us. Hugs to him also! You managed to pull the surprise off PERFECTLY. I never noticed your texting and "maneuvering" and didn't have any problems with your "lateness" ; it gave me more one on one time with Denise and I know how easy it is to "get behind" in the park! What's really funny is...while you and your family were watching the parade...SO WAS I:

I am thrilled we had the time we did have together, and the new ( to me )people that I got to spend time with I will always treasure

There are so many of you I want to meet eventually BUT I get to see Allison & Fran again very soon and Paula ( and Jo ) you are not allowed to leave this country again until we meet and you'll be here soon too !

Now Ed is another story...EVERY Time we make plans to meet it rains every single time PIA ....not PIO....PIA

I fell behind again sorry but all caught up. I cannot get enough of the brilliant photos and of your castle! I thought it was mine but they never give me the keys anymore.
I never had lefou's brew but I will next time. I don't think I will like it so much but I have to try it. I am so ready for the mine train to finish but then I guess all the maintenance will just move to the hub with the new construction they will be starting I am sure it will be wonderful when done but I just need MK to stay pretty with no work for a little bit.
You have already meet so many people! Hopefully I will get to meet a diser one year. I really need to Disney loving people in my life!

Oh! What a Tangled web we Weave




Both dhorner and goopysolelady are regular gamers on the Where in the World thread.
I lurk and play on that thread from time to time and we've been kinda hanging out on the photo sub-forum for about 2 or 3 years now.


This specific DisMeet had been pre-arranged some 10 or 11 months before. Dhorner and I had met (together with franandaj) in California. During that meet, we had discovered that we would be in WDW around the same time and had put in plans to catch up today. During the intervening period, Goopysolelady had watched us plan for this day and I expect she had been feeling happy for us, but a little envious. Heading to WDW had not been in her plans at all. Imagine my surprise and delight when I fed my on-line addiction in Page to find that GOL had left me a PM on the Dis. Turns out she had been really keen to get to this meet! She had been gifted the unexpected trip from her family and was keen to catch up with us.
So from that time, I had been in communication with dhorner and goopysolelady about our DisMeet. We finally confirmed our arrangement to meet for dinner at MK for around 6 pm whilst I was in Page.



So why was I so rude and looking for opportunities to delay this meet?




There are a number of other regular players on Where in the World. One of them, SunDial, lives in Florida. I'm guessing that GOL might have shared the news of her trip on the WitW thread and he started to scheme. But his plan needed a co-conspirator.
Unbeknownst to the other two, SunDial had been texting me for about 2 - 3 days prior (whilst I was in Pagosa Springs). He really wanted to surprise the other two and wanted to come to our DisMeet. He needed to conspire with me because he needed to work out where we were meeting so that he could catch up with us. And due to his work schedule, a 6 pm kick-off was a little too early as the earliest he could meet us was 7 pm.


I didn't know how to change the time of our original meet without tipping off the other two until I got into the park. The parade gave me the perfect excuse to send a text and ask for some extra time. And technically, I didn't lie. I DID want to see the parade. Besides, you may notice from the last picture, my nose didn't grow at all.

All I can say is 'Oh! What a tangled web we weave when we first practise to deceive.'

DisMeet # 7: Where in the World



We were meeting everyone else here.






I'd taken these pictures earlier in the day as we were walking back and forth in the park.






It's rather New England'ish charming in style.






The Columbia Harbour House is a counter service place; and there was sufficient variation in the menu to suit all of us.






I had figured that if we had stuck with the 6 pm kick off, we may well have been finished dinner and moving around the park by the time SunDial got in. It would have been harder to sort out a meeting spot without tipping off the other two. So, the best bet was to have us still sitting and eating so that SunDial could spring his surprise. Hence why I was unfashionably 30 minutes late for this DisMeet and rather apologetic when I saw everyone.



It was really lovely to see dhorner and her DisCuz again; and it was even lovelier to meet goopysolelady in 3D. I'm not sure how they really felt at that time but they did reassure me that my tardiness was fine. But I kinda felt terrible at being late and making them wait, wasting precious park time.

I pushed things a little further by promptly rushing everyone in to get dinner with the rationale that the order lines were short'ish; rather than capture our DisMeet evidence straight away. Afterall, I was keen for us to grab pictures of the DisMeet only after SunDial had arrived. And that's how it played out.



We got dinner and found a spot to sit and chat.

I got the Lobster Roll. It was tasty enough but there was a little bit too much dressing for me. It definitely doesn't measure up to real New England Lobster Roll but for being at a Disney CS place, it was fine.






DS was interested in the fish and chips. It looked dry to me; but DS did finish this meal.






Order envy belonged to DH. He got the Grilled Salmon. Delicious!






I had a great time chatting with Goopysolelady and re-establishing the 3D friendship with dhorner and her DisCuz here; but I must have seemed a little rude. During the meal, Sundial was texting me with updates and also to find out where we were. So I was multi-tasking by eating, talking and texting at the same time. As a rule, I try to never look at my phone when I'm with other people in 3D.


I'd managed to position myself so that I was sitting facing the entrance and the other two didn't quite have that good a view of the door. Sundial walked in shortly after 7 pm and I had such pleasure in telling them to turn around and take a look at who the cat dragged in.



The deception was so totally worth it! The look on their faces as they turned round and recognition dawned is one of my most satisfying memories from out time at WDW.



So...the objective evidence? It was captured on DH's camera.

I knew of the DISmeet the first weekend of October and was not going to miss it. Was not sure if I was going to get up to the world because of family circumstances. I also was signed up to run in the Tower of Terror 10 mile run with my sister that Saturday night of the meet weekend.

I don't remember when I saw that DHorner and her DisCuz were going to be there the week prior to this meet but I remember that I was planning on running up there on back to back weekends. It is not that bad of a drive to Disney for me. 2 1/2 hours from house to parking lot.

When I heard that Goopy was also going to be there about the same time as DHorner with the common day of Monday along with PIO and family my mind was thinking about how I could pull this surprise off. Well Monday was the day. Now how to make it work.

I had sent a PM to PIO asking about what their plans were for that Monday. Where they were planning on meeting and about what time. I was happy to hear it was in the evening although I knew I would not be able to join all for dinner. I live 2 1/2 hours to the south and work is 20 minutes south of my house. I remember leaving work just before 4pm and drove carefully . I was on property by 6:30 at POFQ because I had to see them about the following weekend since that is where I was staying. PIO and I were texting quite a bit that Friday. The last one was that I was walking in the park and what I was wearing. She said where they were sitting in CHH and what they were wearing and that DHorner and Goopy still had no idea that I was there.


It was a perfect meeting. After dinner we all walked around the MK. At park closing said goodbye and headed home, and yes I was back at work the next day.

So Thank You very much PIO for helping me pull this off.

Now my picture of this meet involves playing the game that we play over in the Where In The World thread. I asked everyone to point to the center hub for that was the piece I was going to crop out for the game.

Thanks for popping in, Jeff! We did think about you and Diane on that night. Such a shame that you couldn't quite coordinate a trip at the same time I was there. I think you would have enjoyed hanging out on the last night with Ed and myself. All we did was take pictures.
